  • in reply to: Placing the container, then logging a find? #1886306

Sagasu (Dave) and I have been e-mailing back and forth for weeks, on some of our tougher finds and ones that have not been found ifor awhile.
I give him AND (anyone else permission) to replant caches that have gone MIA. I believe this keeps the “geocaching game” going.

When I (not speaking for Professor here), get a handful of no finds in a row, I check on my caches. For one of my King Boreas caches, I had a handful of no finds, I brought out a replacement cache with me so as to not waste a trip. I couldn’t find the cache, so I replaced it. A newbie comes along and finds BOTH of them. Go figure! But hey, now I have two caches out there! Works for me! It’s funny how caches migrate.

When AuntieNae and I went to the FLASH Mob event in Chicago two weekends ago I e-mailed some cache owners about their disabled caches and encouraged them to get them up and running before the weekend. Only one out of 6 replaced their cache and enabled it. Two of the disabled owners e-mailed me back stating that they couldn’t get to do cache maintainence before the weekend. So, I responded saying I could replace the log for one, and replace the entire cache/log for the other. They were both grateful! You bet that I claimed each one as a find.

    Keeps the (geocaching) game going…..Tami

Speaking of what happens at the WGA campout…..I never did receive my 3rd place prize for the night hunt cache hide contest last year?

Did 1st or 2nd place receive their prizes? Tami

    1) Kids wearing shorts to school today.

    2) motorcyles out on the road

    3) kids riding their bikes after school

    4) while I was jogging on a country road (let me clarify, no sidewalks, only a small shoulder and yes I was running facing traffic, some driver drove through a huge puddle and soaked me.

    Well….since you asked!!!

How about my one and only cache that won Cache Of the Month?

    GCND98

It will not be a BIG disappointment (smiles). It’s easier to find in the winter anyways (bigger smile)….Happy Hunting and congratulations! Tami

Would definitely fly if going! Tami

in reply to: Puzzle Cache Poll #1886172

As of this moment, 47 votes have been casted:

18 votes for cachers that love puzzle caches…..

29 votes if you total up all the excuses why cachers don’t “love” them.

Here we go again…..that poor horse is going to get another whipping! 😉 It seems certain people want everyone to geocache as they see fit, based on their beliefs and opinions, forgetting that this sport is more than big enough for all. Why do people continually want to impose their interpretation of geocaching, which inevitably leads to ideas of eliminating things or imposing barriers or restrictions?

Hey, if Jeremy Irish isn’t losing any sleep over Wisconsinites logging temp caches, why are some of you losing sleep over it? No one says you have to hunt temp caches and/or log them. If you don’t like them then fine, but don’t tell me and others how to play this game. Hey, I’m all for positive discussion of Wisconsin Geocaching, and everyone should have a voice, but how about discussion that expands our sport and doesn’t seek to limit it based on who talks the loudest or is the most persuasive?

People play the game differently. You play it how you like it and I’ll play it how I like to. That’s the beauty–it’s big enough for all! 😀 Wade & Tami

Oh….I voted NO on the poll but NOT because I have only a few caches planted. Tami

in reply to: Annual Cache Review #1885769

Two years ago a family contacted us asking us to archive one of our caches in a small-town city park that was in their hometown. There was nothing wrong with our cache…but reluctantly we agreed since it was located in their hometown and not ours. Well, to this date they still have NOT planted a cache there. 🙁

As for the other question NO! I will not archive my caches in the West Bend/area. WE are planning a huge event in West Bend and we hope to attract the “local” crowd plus out-of-staters who have not geocached in West Bend yet.

Plus, I for one (Professor does not agree with me on this) I enjoy seeing the “low” GCnumbers on my cache pages. Tami

The sale for $2.99 ammo boxes at Fleet & Farm ends on March 8th. I gave my Fleet & Farm flyer to the West Bend Chamber of commerce today during our “Geocaching meeting” and told them to go buy out the store (smiles). Tami

All the more reason to put text on the cache page….”this cache is available in the winter but is NOT winter friendly!” Or “this cache is available in winter and IS winter friendly. EnergySaver takes it one step further and writes, “available up to 4 inches of snow.”

    Hope this helps! Tami

Any Trudy camping? Preferably with a swimming pool and a hot tub? (smiles).

in reply to: what if everyone archived some of their caches? #1884245

Another way to “free up” hiding spots would be for geocachers to NOT adopt other’s caches. Those are the ones that should be archived.

Also, I’m sure we all have cachers in our “local” communities that have hidden caches in our areas but have no interest in maintaining them and or removing them. Just look up their profile and see when was the last time they visited geocaching.com. Those should get pulled as well to free up some areas for some fresh hides. Just my 2 cents. Tami
