Again….we are not the only state that log temp. caches.

Again, my simple solution is this…for (all states, not just Wisconsin) events that have temp. caches, the cache page should be set up and given the options that a CITO event page has. There you have an option to say you “attended” the event. Then you have the option to say, “you found it,” meaning you found a temp. cache…. Then you can keep straight the number of events you attended vs. the number of temp. caches you found at the event/s.

I know I’m repeating myself here ( I explained it under this thread a few months back)…..but I believe this would be an easy solution.

I know that Brian (The Tapp’s) prides himself on 24 hour cache maintenance. Brian takes maintaining his caches seriously, and he also offers a variety of different hiding styles as well as variety of cache containers. Keep up the great hides Brian. Tami

😆 Seriously….the geoAdventure Maze that opened up this past weekend in Indiana which was an “event,” I noticed that a couple of geocachers logged they attended the event twice so to get credit for an event hide. Jeremy Irish was there himself including other groundspeak crew members. If Jeremy is opposed to logging temp caches, why is he letting them log the event twice?

Some cachers stay away from the geocaching.com forums because of all the negativity. I think it should stay there, and not be brought here.

    Thanks for the chuckle though.

Like I always say, “those that say numbers don’t matter, are the ones that keep bringing it up.” Tami

in reply to: Date Selection for the WGA fall Picnic #1874753

❓ Why are you calling it the Fall WGA picnic when all the dates except for one are considered “summer” and not “fall?”

The campout is/was during the school year, it would be nice if this one was held in the “summer.” Tami

    8) Cool! Thanks for helping “ease the load” for the other two WGA approvers.

So, any relation to Cheese-Wis? With a name like Wis Kid…..you two could be related per chance? 😀

Thanks again and thanks to the other two approvers as well. Tami

😀 My family has hunted WI Robin’s Happy Birthday Zuma 50 caches. It was great to keep the car in one parking lot and hunt a pocket of caches in each of those county parks. It was a bonus that they were ammo boxes and not micro’s in the woods. Thanks again Robin!

As for other “pocket of caches” dare I say Saturated areas….if you don’t like to hit an area that is saturated then don’t hunt them! If you don’t like cemetery hides, don’t hunt them, if you don’t like dead end guard rail hunts, don’t hunt them, just don’t stop (or prevent) the rest of us from hunting them. As long as they meet the geocaching.com guidelines, I say let them hide them.

With gas prices at $3.09 a gallon in West Bend and rising…..well you get the picture.

People hunt and hide caches for different reasons. That’s what so great about this sport! Tami

    in reply to: 99 ammo cans…. #1873056

89 ammo cans hidden in the rocks, if one of the cans still have the word Ammunition on the outside and a concerned citizen spots it, they will call in the bomb squad and have it blown up so

now there are 88 ammo cans left

❓ I have a suggestion? You could list the caches under a multi as waypoint and then allow the finders to log each stage as a find, assuming each stage has a logbook to sign. Rpaske has/had something like an 11 stage multi in Pike Lake State Park and all the stages have logbooks and he gives the geocacher the choice to log each stage as a find or just the final. We hunted Randy’s when it first came out so don’t know if it is still current or not. Tami

So how many years ago did you celebrate your golden birthday? ❓
Happy Birthday from the Ecorangers. 😆
    It’s Duelist’s birthday on the 19th. 😉 Tami

😉 You can add our name to that long list. We’ve been out of state for 10 days recently and have just started logging our find/no finds now. Tami

On a side comment. I just want to say how much I appreciate cache owners maintaining their caches in a timely manner in Wisconsin. 😆

As cache owners (over 200 active cache hides) we appreciate it anytime cachers log a DNF. It gives us a heads up that the cache may be muggled. With that being said. We log our no finds with the exception that if someone had found it the next day (or after us), then we know its there and we just missed it. Tami

❓ I’m undecided at this time. I have quite a few cemtery hides. Just planted two last week with one being a multi. Tami

    8) We are pretty happy with our Magellan Meridian Gold BUT we always geocache with a compass around our neck. Just before we go into the woods (under canopy), we take a bearing and eyeball our line of direction and walk that way (assuming there’s not a cliff, river etc). For the most part, it works great. Hope this helps. Tami
