As I wrote in my early post, other states log temp. caches just like we do.
My suggestion was for geocaching.com to allow those states that log temp. caches to use the same cache page format/choices as CITO events. If you look at The Tapps/AuntieNae’s CITO Waukesha 2007 event:
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?ID=525461
and you click on “log your visit,” you can log “attended” which increases your event total find/s and/or if you click on “found it,” (to log the temp. caches) you increase your cache total finds. Thus the number of events attended would be just for that (the number of events you have attended), and the temp. cache finds would each be counted as a cache find.Does this make sense to anyone?
Anyone willing to approach geocaching.com with this suggestion/solution?Awhile back (far from the west coast I believe), someone e-mailed me a quote from Jeremy Irish and the last thing Jeremy was quoted as saying was something like, he (Jeremy)is not losing any sleep over the way Wisconsin logs their temp. caches for events. The last thing that I e-mailed to that person was that I wasn’t losing any sleep either the way we log temp. caches 💡 Tami
😆 Since I have my own personal geocoin collection, my vote would be for the trackable geocoin. Thanks for asking, Tami
😈
Ah…..where to begin.
When my family first started geocaching, the way you logged an event was to click on “found it.” And that’s how we logged our temp. finds for events as well using the same cache page. Not sure how long ago the switch was made but they changed the logging from “found it,” to “attended it.” I’m sure Cheesehead Dave remembers this as well. 😯One solution to keep the temp finds and the event finds separate would be to log it like a CITO event. When you look at the event page for a CITO event you have two options. You can log an “attended” or a “found it.”
So for Wisconsin events and other states that log temps for that matter, we can click on “attended” and then click on “found it” for each temp. cache on the event cache page.
I get a kick out of the ones who say that “numbers don’t matter” yet they are the ones that keep bringing it up. 😉

FYI There are other states who log temp. caches the same as we do. Heck, we’ve been to an event in another state where they let you log caches you had found previously that were permanent caches, (you wold log them on the cache event page). But that’s neither here nor there.💡 I’m curious to see who the late candidates are going to be? Tami
Great minds think a like… 😀 . It’s in the center of Wisconsin, close to Waupaca. Here’s the website for it:

Jon:
Great (non) Geocaching event. Thanks for taking the time to promote geocaching in the Janesville area. It was a great day to be outdoors. Princess and I enjoyed hunting the temp caches. Tami
Also, 😉 I did manage to snag the last Magellan Meridan Gold at Gander Mountain. Thanks again.😆 Way to go! Can’t wait for school to start up so we can exchange geocaching stories! Tami
We just returned from a 10 day roadtrip which included geocaching in Canada. We entered Canada by Grand Portage. We had birth certificates for all of us including picture ID’s. That was acceptable. They did confiscate my pepper spray going into Canada though.
On the return trip back to the good old US of A, we went through in one minute using the birth certificates and photo ID’s.I was really nervous about the kids. Neither border signalled out the kids to ask them questions. All in all it was a great trip. Tami 🙄
A big hug and a BIG congratulations from the ecorangers. Great to see you at EnergySaver’s event on the 4th of July. Tami
😀 A big HUG and a big CONGRATULATIONS from the Ecorangers. Way to go and keep it up. Now onto 2K. Tami
😀 A big HUG and a big CONGRATULATIONS from the Ecorangers. Tami
🙄 Marc…thanks for the chuckle. I guess I won’t be getting any big hugs from you in the near future. Tami
