Chuckle…so I’m teaching my 4th class of the day and one of my 8th grade boys says, “Mrs. J-M, you have one of those “sticky” things stuck on your shirt in the back.” So I’m thinking someone stuck a post it note on my back as a joke. This nice boy removes it from my back and shows it to me and it’s a burr. Tami
My sister and I were out in the Kettle Moraine area yesterday marking coords for her 6th grade camp outing coming up and it must have stuck to my car seat and then hitched a ride into school with me.Builli the Wonder Dog is a geocaching dog out of Nashville. Owners Abbysgramy and NashvilleJoe “take care of the logging.” I have geocached in person with Bulli (and Joe and Sharon) and Bulli is a great finder with cemetery hides. Tami
I too got poison ivy during the cache ba$h, I think it was from going off-trail on the IAT for an earthcache (not mine). I shouldn’t have worn short (my bad). I geocached today in the pouring rain 8/20/09 and was soaked to the bone for hours. And like Mister Greenthumb I got stung by a wasp/bee today (never did get to see what it was)…..well these are some of my end-of-the-summer geocaching adventures and once the school year starts, I’d be wishing I could do them all over again. tami
PS keep the suggestions coming.
Did anyone get fined by the police/sheriff?Thanks for all the suggestions everyone and keep them coming 😀
Some of us hiders find the hiding spots for the cache ba$h in April-May-or early June…and there’s not a whole lot of vegetation at that time.
So who would have thought that there would be some pretty flowers right next to a pine tree next to a big ugly green electrical box. OR where the heck did that corn come from? If you did that one as per the instructions staying on the IATrail you would have gone through a corn maze. Trust me when I say there was NO sign of corn growing there when I was first out there and when I went to put the cache out a few days before the event, I was shocked to see the corn so tall that you couldn’t even see the trail markers. Tami
I was surprised at the number of cachers that forgo the 09 series and hit the 08 series and/or other caches.08/16/2009 at 1:46 pm in reply to: #1 Geocaching Team in the World attending $1000 Cache Ba$h #1908894WOW! What a treat for West Bend! Mega event status, and Lee milestoning at 35K. Thanks to everyone who attended and for making everyone feel so welcomed. Tami
Thanks to Mister Greenthumb & Sunshine and to the OPPS5 family for teaming up with this wonderful family from Canada. My sister, my mom and myself also enjoyed teaming up with your friendly group and we had a blast completing the walk/hike down historic/mainstreet. Tami
A big hug and a big congrats from the ecorangers…see ya at the Ba$h.
I know Green Lake is pretty big but just an FYI that there will be 2 triathlons held this Sunday morning (August) 2nd. They will do the swim portion (1/4 mile and 1/2 mile) in the lake and then bike (16 miles and 25 miles) around the lake area (never did this course before). Back in my triathlon days, we biked into Ripon and then ran around the campus. So not sure exactly where the running/biking portion will be. Expect some roads closed and some intersections backed up in the morning. Tami
07/31/2009 at 12:46 am in reply to: #1 Geocaching Team in the World attending $1000 Cache Ba$h #1908893For last year’s Cache Ba$h, the West Bend Chamber invited Alamogul to attend and they turned them down….this year, I (earth angel) gave Lee a personal invite at GeoWoodstock and that seemed to do the trick.
So we are just tickled that they are coming to Little Ole’ West Bend.Any takers on wanting to geocache with Lee on Saturday to get the new released caches? Or anyone wanting to cache with him on Sunday to get the other caches in West Bend?
One of his cache finds here will be his major milestone of 35K…you could be a part of that. Tami
Back in early May, the West Bend Chamber of Commerce was hoping to get 1000 attendees….thanks to all of you we did it!
We have over 1000 geocachers registered to attend the 2nd annual West Bend $1000 Cache Ba$h. How exciting 😆
See ya all in just over 2 weeks. Tami07/30/2009 at 2:12 am in reply to: #1 Geocaching Team in the World attending $1000 Cache Ba$h #1908886Lee (Team Alamogul) will be having a major milestone at the Cache Ba$h.
Can you say 35K?
Hope you all can be there to congratulate him and his wife.
He’s looking to team up with some cachers in West Bend on Saturday, Sunday and then on Monday in Milwaukee. Any takers? TamiToo bad they don’t have a seperate ICON for an event with 1000 or more geocachers like a GiGa 😆 event CUZ we have over 1000 cachers signed up for the 2nd annual West Bend $1000 Cache Ba$h. Whoot woo. Tami
Water caches=bonus caches…if you find a water cache (there are 3 seperate water caches) and stamp your booklet in the appropriate spot with the appropriate stamp, you will receive one ticket per water cache found for a chance at the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Sample of water caches: pond, river, lake.Dang! Hopefully it will be up soon….Tami
Another event to add to our fun-filled weekend in West Bend.
