I play it! I am over level 250 and have finished all the New York and Cuba assignments.

Congrats! I was glad to be able to meet you in person at the picnic also.

Thanks to all who made the event possible. This was my first WGA event. It was nice meeting many members who are active on the forums.

Great job also to whoever arranged such great weather too!

Congrats to Vegas Gamblers for defeating me this week. I just consider myself lucky for picking up a better quarterback (Sanchez from my favorite team, the New York Jets (I grew up in NY)).

Congrats! We had talked about this while doing a night cache at the West Bend Cache Bash.

I had looked at that challenge but still have some holes to fill. Now that I realize the finds have to be after the challenge cache was created, I think I am further from completing this than I thought. That makes this accomplishment even more remarkable.

    Congrats on another milestone!

Great! I already had to bribe my children into going by promising we could eat at McDonald’s (except for the picnic) and telling them that there would be some nice prizes in the kids cache!

I’ll try to bring some toys myself to replace anything my kids take.

I think this year will be a long one as I only know a few players that were drafted to me. Even with Vegas having a suspended kicker he was predicted to have 21 more points than I was expected. 😯

    Congrats on the accomplishment!

I’ve done 3 of them so far this year and I maintained one the caches during last year’s program. This is an excellent idea. Every one of those caches gets hit a lot as they all tend to be reasonably high quality caches with reasonably nice locations. They tend to be easy to find because they tend to have distinct cacher’s trails leading to them. Because they are hit a lot by geocaching newbies, some TB’s and Geocoins tend to disappear. Last year the sponsor, Best Buy, released a lot of 40% off handheld GPS coupons (which is when I decided to upgrade to my Oregon).

It would be great for Wisconsin to develop a program like this.

My daughter will be starting 7th grade (and not looking forward to it).
My son will be starting 4th grade (and can’t wait!).

My wife works as a substitute teacher and enjoys working with the kids.

I teach 4th year medical students from Madison. But because medical education generally continues year-round, back-to-school doesn’t really apply. The new academic year started nearly two months ago (try not to get sick at an academic hospital in July!). I have to make the 5 hour drive to Madison for my next faculty development seminar October 23rd.

in reply to: Cache Bash 2009 – suggestions? #1897936

I had done a pocket query before I left town and then got the event caches downloaded during the Friday event (and BTW, would have preferred to have done it in my hotel room rather than waiting in line). My Oregon did receive the cache pages and descriptions but did not have the code names so I never knew what the event caches were. I also did not get a copy of the event map so I needed Jerry’s Dad and Northern Lightz to tell me this information. Fortunately our goal was numbers rather than event caches so it didn’t matter as much.

Glad I was able to help you reach that milestone. I had a lot of fun!

Congrats also for more than doubling your personal best geocaching day!

ditto on the congrats! This was a great event and seemed very well-organized to me.

I was amazed that my wife expressed interest in attending next years event! She has generally lost interest in caching.

I have a friend who attended high school with the mayor of West Bend. We corresponded before and during the event. She even forwarded one of my e-mails to someone else from the chamber of commerce. Hopefully I did my part to encourage West Bend to continue to give such great support to geocaching (and I can come back to a great caching area).

in reply to: What was your first car? #1912332

My first car was a 1984 Plymouth Horizon.

I loved that vehicle even though it had the annoying habit of stalling at high speeds during the summer months. I used to have to have the heat going at full blast all summer long to prevent it from overheating.
