To clarify, I have office on both my PC and my netbook, I just dont have outlook on the netbook. I’d like to have acess to my outlook (roadrunner email) on both because it’s been my primary email for years.

So far, what I’ve used of office works great on the netbook.

So you already (via your two PC) have the ability to access ONE email account from TWO different copies of Outlook? How does that work … do you IMAP rather than POP?

wouldn’t be creepy if he was on the page when it opens … but he’s acting a bit like a stalker or something.

Was thinking the same thing … plus, if that guy is ever selling something I want, I’m guessing he might actually be honest about the product.

Wow! Jerry’s Dad is really on the ball for finding that so fast.

I don’t shut down any of my caches during hunting. I thought about it the first year, but the ranger encouraged me not too.

I do ALWAYS have some warning text in the body of those specific caches. Then a few days before the season opens (aka yesterday) I post a log note “refreshing” the alert and I include a current DNR message/map for the specific park … example … http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=6ae54607-15d1-4a97-bef8-1ac29c8404ef

I got to agree with the last post. I think I’m unbiased since I don’t really get into being FTF. But there really can only be one FTF. I see no problem with two “teams” seeking at the same time, who ever finds it first gets the FTF … kind of like a photo finish FTF. I suppose if you both literally grabbed into a hollow stump from opposite ends at the same moment … maybe then you’d split the honors, but otherwise first is first. Just to clarify … that next person, they would be second 🙂

There is no way in H _ _ _ that I would put a unknown Flash drive into my computer. That has to be the most lamebrain thing I have heard of. I can smell the virus from here.

I agree. And even assume for a minute that there is NO virus on the flash drive. Thing about this … a Flash Drive sitting outside in various weather conditions for months or years. (1) Will it actually still work. (2) Do I even want to expose the connection port on my laptop to the dirt film and/or rust that will be on the device.

Seems like a no win situation to me. The CHIRP concept I get … but not this. But what happens when someone dirt ball figures out how to re-code a CHIRP to trash people’s GPSr units.

Thanks all. On this same note, how does the searching etiquette apply at group events or mega events when multiple groups or people are searching for the same cache? Is it a race to get it, or a casual laid back type atmosphere? We havent been to any group events yet, so just curious.

FTFs and Events tend to be a different animal.

A bit off subject, but when doing “normal” caching, something to try if you bring a group of friends along caching (especially kids), is to consider doing something that is called “Finders Tree”. You all look for the cache and lets say person X spots it, they don’t say anything and casually walk to a different spot (like maybe lean against some tree away from ground zero) and announce “finders tree”. This means they found it and the rest didn’t. It gives people a chance at the glory of being the first in the group to find it, without giving it away to others. Now if you have a lot of people in your group, after 2 or 3 or 4 “finders tree” announcements, it tends to become obvious by process of elimination where the cache is.

I personally like “finders tree”, as I love to sit back and snicker as other people look for it.

my prediction … the next generation of Garmin’s will have a USB port to download the need info to these caches.

I agree with what S|S is saying about you won’t find any casually constructed Whereigo’s out there … at least none that you can actually find.

Unlike hiding a cache … I doubt you’ll have any Found 1 / Hide 1 creators of Whereigo. Actually by the time you get to publishing a useable cartridge you’ve likely had to find your own 8 or 9 times 🙂 .

How are we going to manage a “Whereigo Rescue” system some day. I’m not looking forward to wandering around in some park removing things that are not really there!

While I’ve not set off to make my own Whereigo, I did play around with the software some time ago. Speaking as a person that does a bit of computer programming … I would call making a Whereigo programming.

Don’t get down on yourself … in fact, understand that making one of these puppies IS challenging.

Again I looked at it once … while it’s not over my head … it’s close enough to my chin, that I decide to put it off until I have a bit more time to put into it and deal with the likelyhood of some trial and error.

Cool! PM sent. Sounds like want I’m looking for … as I’d like full color (photo image file) and low volume (maybe 10 to 15).
