I have a theory where the term Bison Tubes comes from … but I didn’t even bother googling it, as I like to just be right without checking …
I know for cows they make (or use to) these giant magnets, shaped similar to the Bison Tubes … you put them in a long tube a blew them down the throat of the cow … it would catch stray metal they swallowed (old nails, etc.) so they wouldn’t be floating around in their stomachs and causing damage. Maybe a similar/same product was (is) used for Bison … and inspired them to make this shape and size, and thus the name.

I also doubt the coin is trackable.
It MIGHT be trackable … as Vince had emailed me about 6 months ago asking questions, which including how to order trackable coins. I will ask him … stay tuned.
Sorry … while you’ve accomplished a lot and you are a valuable non-member … there would just be too many exceptions for the next person to suggest … or who would decide just how much of an accomplishment is enough to make it in. The organization is called “Wiscoinsin Geocaching Association” not “Wisconsin Geocaching or Really Active Geocacher Association”.
Also, one could argue that since I’ve not done nearly as many caches and have not done most counties that maybe I should be excluded.
No offense … I just think the last thing we need is more bylaws to pick through.
on phone a friend … I think it’s pretty common and I don’t have a problem with it … I assume in most cases people are using it as a last resort instead of giving up (or after giving up) … I think I’ve used it twice (an ecoranger cache … twice for the same caches, on two seperate visit attempts … issssh)
I too was wondering where people are getting the cell phone numbers … the original poster of this question seems to be surprised to have even gotten the call, which would really be a suprise if you never gave anyone your cell number. I only have the cell number of two cachers … which I’ve acquired for non-phone-a-friend purposes.
My 2 cents … since it would seem one of the main “benefits” to full membership is voting … I’d say “sorry but no” to membership … since someone from out of state can certainly be a member of the organization in their home-state, one would assume they can vote on things in their home-state … I don’t think that it’s logical for one person to be able to vote in two states for organizations of similar purpose.
If I really liked Florida and went on vacation there 20 or 30 times a year to tan my tummy on the beaches … that still doesn’t mean I get to vote for the Governor of Florida AND the Governor of Wisconsin. This is the same thing.
The idea has already come up … check here:

I tend to avoid micros … unless I’m real near them doing larger caches, or I’m specifically doing city caches. For me geocaching is about long walks in the woods and finding something “treasure like” in the end.
BUT I’m not against micros … after all the system tells you what size each one is, so I can choose to find what I want … so I see no problem.
08/02/2007 at 7:23 pm in reply to: August ’07 Edition- Wisconsin Natural Resources Magazine #1877295All in all a good article for Geocaching and GPSrs for that matter.
But a couple things I didn’t understand … maybe they’re typos:
(a) It states there are 82,000 geocachers in Wisconsin (or maybe it estimates so by 2010) … that seems really high!
(b) The article speaks of downloading maps to a CD, the loading them from the CD to your GPSr … maybe I’m behind the times, but since when to GPSrs have CD drives on them. I think they meant Computer instead of CD?
works for me with IE 6.0
could it be an IE 7 issue … we’ve “outlawed” installing 7 on our 45 computers at work, due to some leftover “beta” problems with it … that typically show up with different applications (web-based databases and many online banking systems).

Thanks and look for me to find a few of your caches in a bit…now where’s the final on that puzzle cache of yours?
Glad I could help out.
Finals on my puzzles … depends on which one you mean … and you must do them! 😈
“Harrington: Risen to Power” … a short walk, not out of your way at all.
“Looking Back in Time” … a short drive, less than 10 min.I’m from the area … your best bet would Kohler-Andrea state park in Sheboygan … http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/ka/
It would be the closest campsites to Port Washington … plus it’s on Lake Mich. … the only trick would be if you can get a spot there with such short lead time … you should contact them. (I year or so from now there will be closer camping at Harrington Beach in Belgium, Wi … but that’s just starting to be constructed).
About equal distance (or maybe a tad closer) is Waubedona County Park … which is very basic (no bathrooms) … is very inland, but has great fishing on the Milw. River right outside your tent flaps … it’s a little know camping area and would likely have openings … but again nothing fancy, you pull off the paved road by a few feet, setup your tent and your pretty much on your own for everything else you need. http://www.co.ozaukee.wi.us/Parks/WaubedoniaCampsites.htm

Dr Evermore and Lady EleanorThat’s it … thank you! thank you! thank you!
I happened upon the products website a few weeks back, and was wondering if these were making there way into geocaches. Now I know.
A QUESTION … Do you think these things have enough “collect-ability” that I worked with my local state park for them to have one made representing that specific park, and they then sold them in the gift shop as an individual item … would people (such as geocachers) potentially buy one? I suspect the main point of these items is to get a set made and give them away … so I’m not sure how this idea would fly.
I’m trying to work with the local state park on promoting geocaching and attracting people to going into the office / gift shop. The idea of these occurred to me, but maybe it’s a dumb idea.
Hard to narrow it to one, but I have several at my cache GC10BD4 … if you know the cache, you’ll know why they’re great logs …
by Trudy & the beast … Being a retired sergeant and a history buff, I may be able to offer a little more information on this particular model of tank. During twenty-seven years of service, I saw many like this one. This particular model was manufactured right here in Wisconsin. It is curious that this particular tank has a fully upholstered drivers seat, while most similar tanks were outfitted with a more primitive painted wooden seat. The color was common while the tank was still in Beta testing. It was specifically designed for one-man operation. It never saw any use on the field of combat due to the high emissions associated heavy use, and the fact that the operation required a large amount of paperwork. There are still a number of these tanks available in military salvage yards, and they are in this original color. Thanks Jim G. for allowing us the close-up visit. TFTC.
by Team Venom … Oh mY!!! What a wonderful old tank, I had to admire too, being a former tank commander how the hull down, and camo paint helped to make the Vehicle virtually disappear! Had to point out the finer points of armor vehicles to my son who will join the service soon (hopefully as a Drill Sergeant like his Dad). I wonder what Jim (the owner) was thinking? Is he anticipating a assault on Lake Road? His farm does control the high ground… At least I know where there is some armor to hide inside!!! Please, as the note says be careful, and dont climb on the hull,as it has many hard sharp points that can hurt you!!!
by CleverGirl16 … To quote Homer Simpson, “USA, USA.” Only in this great country of ours, could such a historical monument be displayed so proudly along a simple backroad. I wonder if they had to get a permit to put it there. TFTC.
ok, weird … I’ve never had an reaction to PI in the past … but now I have 3 small blisters on my right arm. I thought PI would be a big rash area and get pink or something, these look more like burns or something. The odd thing, I started noticing it Monday, but the only time I was recently outside was last Thursday … doing the caches at the Schlitz Audubon Center … which are right on the edge of trails, not exactly any bushwhacking going on at the center, as your required to stay on trail. Go figure!
