The new cache with all the names in the log book…now that’s something. I wonder if they found the right cache.
In this case (the Sheboygan cache), the nearest caches is listed as 0.9 miles away … that’s pretty far, to have strayed.
I agree, log the find and indicate the situation in your notes (without spoiling it of course) … it’s silly and not very logical to “make believe” you didn’t find it, or to now retrace your steps to find it again when you already know where it is. Luckily no money or great rewards are being taken from the pockets of the rest of us, so we’ll survive your great luck 😉
=”… their customer is the best I’ve ever encountered anywhere for anything.
Which of Garmin’s customers is the best? 🙄
I’d like to meet him or her. 😉
It’s not often you get to meet a large company’s best customer! 😆some comments to go along with my vote ….
If you’re looking at a unit for geocaching, I’d go with the 60CSx.
Both units are nice pieces of equipment, but the 60CSx strikes me as being much more sturdy than the Quest2 (especially that flip up antenna).
I’m also not a big fan of built-in Lithium batteries (which the Quest2 has), when you could select a piece of equipment like the 60CSx that accepts removable batteries (disposable or rechargeable). What happens if your built-in battery dies in the woods? What about the big expense of replacing the battery when it’s usable life is up in a year or less.
Also, the 60CSx has built-in Compass and Altimeter … not that these a big deal, but your getting more features for less money.
If you go to the geocaching.com website … and did an “Advanced Search” … select the pull down choice of “Key Word” … type “Wazee” … and click on [Seek] … only one cache comes up, not sure if it’s what your look for … this is the one that comes up: GCK6PZ
Now my question to you … what do you mean by “BRF”?
Glad you had good results!
As with dealing with any organization … some locations are going to be a piece of cake, some will be a fair amount of effort and some will just say no. Fact of life is that they manage the properties, they have a right to know what’s on the land they’re taking care of and we need to respect that authority granted to them.
Are you by chance talking about the letterbox near that “bat hill” in Iron Mountain, MI? We discovered it instead of the cache this past week, and I know your more or less near that area.
Here is the letterboxing of America website:
http://www.letterboxing.orgI doubt that anyone has bothered with Paperless, since there are only 400 of them in the whole state of WI. The “Search for Boxes” pages does include an excel export option, but it provides incomplete info leaving out the details of where the box is specifically.
This is the one we found by mistake about 110′ from a cache, while expanding our search area (the cache is trashed, only items of it are laying around).
A couple interesting updates on this whole thing …
(1) A couple weeks back the local paper had a 3/4 page article interviewing the couple out of Grafton that is running this thing. Not an Ad, but the normal weekly community interest article. Seems to be an idea they’ve had in their heads for a few years and are finally giving it a whack. They do NOT appear to be geocachers (I was starting to wonder if maybe they were), in fact in the article they make mention that this is NOT geocaching and point out the differences (I’m glad they did that).
(2) Now in last week’s paper there was a small update to the article … basically indicating that “no matter what” the will be giving out at least $5000. At the time of the article they only had 10 people signed up … now the website indicates 14 people.
Still not sure what I think of the whole concept. But while I suspected they would not get many takers, I’m surprised that they have had as few as they do.

There is 4 family/kid pictures at the page for my newbie event at Harrington from last year … check them out at GCNX5F … I’ve got the originals too, if you want full resolution on any just email me off line.
For sure there is a “Fox6 Factor” … we just got back from attending a week long Bible camp near Pembine, WI (15 south of Iron Mountain, MI). Lots of people that came from the southeastern area saw the various coverage by Vince and asked me lots of questions. In fact for 5-days in a row I had families ask me to take them caching … we took out a total of 6 first time families, 4 of which are planning on buying their GPSrs this week 🙂
Congrats on your acomplisments … and thanks for visiting some of mine too! So, you don’t like burning nettle?
I agree it’s all about getting to know your local DNR contact. I’ve got two caches in a local state park and the ranger checks on them regularly (even tells me if the log books are getting full). Now he wants to get together this fall and have me help HIM hide several caches in the park that would be the “official” park caches … show casing specific areas of the park that he thinks people don’t know about … he sees the value in drawing more park users to the area that might not come otherwise.
Get to know them … and the caches will come.
