I say removed it … any type of smell is likely to make SOME animal want to check it out. We camo our caches so people don’t find them, when I believe our worst enemy is many times animals. The less scent a cache has the better.
For an example, check out “Andrae Outback” … it was just set to “inactive” by the approvers at my suggestion … the owner claimed in the past the a PERSON stole it, which makes no sense since it’s not at all in a human activity area, but yet right in the cache listing he says he put dog raw hide treats in it. Then he hid a new container and put raw hide in it again. Dahh … what is he thinking!!! It’s been reported missing by cachers, but I found the container chewed up (most likely by a fox).
Last date for the series will be Sunday, 9/4/05. Look for a new single replacement in the area in the near future.
It does look like the Garmin eMap … I love my eMap (especially with the optional yellow rubber enclosure … but I agree it’s a bit dated as a logo … accurate to the “sport” but a bit low-tech looking.
anybody else also see a ring of pink-ish dots and a black + symbol?
Just a reminder to the powers-that-be at WGA … I submitted a “Monthly Article” in February, that was never published.
If you didn’t like the article … that’s ok, I understand.
But if you did like it and forgot I sent it … well then this is a reminder.quote:

Hey, my wife and sister-in-law just said the same thing yesterday!
I have good luck using a Palm ( http://www.palmone.com ) and “CacheMate” software ($8 at http://www.smittyware.com ).
If you just want to do paperless caching, yes go for a lower costs unit, like a Zire 31, or save even more by getting a reconditioned one. If you want to do more … in my case I’ve got bible software and palm-based map software on it … you’ll want more internal memory (as relying on a memory card slows things down typically) … I went with the Palm Tungsten E2, I’m extrememly happy with it.One thing to consider is screen glare out in the sunshine … low end black & white units are fine and the mid/high units with “transreflective” color screens (like the Tungsten E or E2 for example) work well … but many of the low/mid-cost COLOR units (like the Zire series) do NOT work well with any amount of sun light. Bascially either stick with a cheap black & white, or look for “transrelective” color.
Also something I’ve found and “jthorson” can attest to … if your doing a puzzle/mystery cache with any amount of complexity/steps to it … consider printing it on paper, hand-helds can cause you to make mistakes since you can’t see all the text on the screen at one time. (Just ask “jthorson” what happened to him at my “Son of Port Puzzle” … LOL x5)

We managed to stay PI Free … yet the two other families that joined us wore shorts and some did not even have socks on … not sure how we pulled off staying free of it. We walked through fields of it during the event that could not really be avoided, just tried to do our best … it was hard to avoid while doing the multi.
Thanks for a great time and for your hard work!
We decided to be more social at this event, so we found 14 of the hides, but we had fun hang’en out with people. My favorite part was picking on CB & MB as they ran ahead of us, trying to not let us see where the caches were … I’m happy to report that they lied and did not take all the candy out of “Camo”, so I got my mid-afternoon snack.
If you want to count each find … post an individual “Attended” entry for each find, saying the name of each cache, plus a brief/optional comment … example:
found “pick my nose” … loved putting my finger in this nose.
Greetings!
Welcome to the fun.quote:

Oh, yes please come and get it … I always like see more “found its” in the good ‘ol email folder … so don’t ask me why I made this one so “tricky” then?
If your coming from the south and using I-43 it would be a dirty shame to not stop, it will not take you long. A bit of road work as you near the location, but it’s only going to slow you down for about 100 feet.
Tiering is a good idea!
I’ve not ever run into one of those yet, for some it would be nice.I sort of did that on my “The Dream?”, but in that case it’s all about the “prior to the drive” work, not the cache location itself.
For those that use their Palms … if your not aware, the latest version of Cache Mate (7/15/05, version 4.1.0 or greater), finally works for decoding only part of a hint at a time … very fitting with this discussion (or for hints on multi-stages) … you just highlight the text you want to decode and it decodes just that portion vs. if nothings highlighed it all gets decoded.

Just don’t park by my orange cone at this one either … especially since I’m the one putting the cone there.
