No, No, I Insist … once I’m parked, you can have MY orange cone.
IF the costs are covered, I see no reason to pass the hat.
Just a side note … Yes WGA is a logical destination for an extra funds. Typically you would not raise funds for non-geo purposes, as that would not likely meet GC’s requirments for listing the event page.
Update … the organizer of the event indicates this an email this morning “we do have a budget where the things you spoke of could come out of as far as expenses” plus she’s going to try and get the shelter for free.
So, unless problems arise, this is a non-issue … if I do end up having expenses, I will take the suggestions thus far and place a donation basket, because I like the point about not scaring off new people. Thanks for your feedback.

Could you make that a Elephant Tracks waffle cone instead?
Just to clarify … the city is not running the geo-event, I am … a co-worker’s wife is running the festival (more of a farmer’s / craft market with other stuff) and asked me if I’d be interested in joining in the fun, I think she’s with the Chamber of Commerce. Maybe I should not have used the term “the City”. However, I am working on getting as much donated as possible … I just emailed someone about the shelter 10 minutes ago to see if we qualify as “Non-Profit Group” for free rental … I think we should, but that would be the Park-Rec Dept.’s call, which has nothing to do with the festival.

PCFROG, your right, there are other expenses (travel, lodging) … But that’s true of anything involving a trip of any distance … try planning a day at Wisconsin Dells, and see how far $20 above and beyond gas and hotel gets you … but I see your point.
sorry if I’ve been excessively silly (not that any one has said it out loud) … but I think I’m officially 100% over my heat stroke and feeling perky … or it could be that I fried more brain cells in the process.

Actually I can’t think of anywhere I can “entertain” my entire family for a day for so little money. Personally, I plan on throwing $15 or $20 in … depending on how good of a parking spot I get I’m not bragging on how generous I am … I just think everyone should think about how cheap the day is and consider accordingly … then give what your budget allows and what you feel comfortable with.

Nice gpsr!Is it there at #62 also … thanks alot for making me count that high.
Maybe we’ve sent so many replies that the system is playing games with the messages or something … because mine that was after that is still gone and no one would have had reason to zap my meaningless comment.

Oh! So you do want the coordinates in advance! <

Gee, I guess I hit another sore spot because the reply I had to this post got deleted.
… Or, maybe the system went wacko and deleted a couple messages without human-help? Because I had one after yours that seems to have disappeared, yet it didn’t say anything worth sensoring. I never say anything worth sensoring, much less worth reading … this is starting too **CENSORED** me.

Okay, I’ve been working a lot lately and have only had a few minutes here and there to get online. Today I have more time so I have something to say about this pre-load thing.
While I understand the desire of those who wish to load their GPSR’s early, I completely agree with the decision of the picnic commitee to keep the file to themselves until Saturday.
It makes me laugh to think that people are so worried about the “electronic” moment. What ever happened to the time of manual input? Have we become so lazy that we can’t sit for a few minutes and press a few buttons on our GPSR’s? C’mon people…get real! Stop relying so much on the dang computers and the search for the FTF and just go cache! Just because there is a file, doesn’t mean any of us has a right to it. The only thing we ARE required to receive is the numbers…but how that happens isn’t up to anyone but the picnic commitee. How is it that we can walk 10 miles in a day, but we can’t press buttons our GPSR’s?
How many events have gone on without ANYONE having a laptop to use for downloading files? Too many to mention. I’ve been to several!
We should be thankful for four basic things that I can think of:
1)The event itself
2)The people planning
3)Those attending
4)The opportunity to even search for and log temporary hidesI’m sure there are other things that you can think of but this is my list. So lighten up, get off the backs of the planners, and pick up your cache listing page when you get there. (Any files available for electronic download are shared through the kindness of those supplying them.)
***NOTE***
If you absolutely can’t stand the thought of the manual input, let me know. I’ll do it for you! Or laugh about it in your presence!
Actually … I like everything you said!
And I quoted all, just to make sure you know that I really like ALL of it.
When people put in the effort to plan something, others should do their best to be thankful for what has been planned and overlook “wish lists” that didn’t come true. As a person who planned an event, the most frustrating part is others “second quessing” your decisions. Me personally, I released the coordinates in advance and will likely do so again in the future … but, it does come at the price of wondering what’s going on your “stage” before the “show” starts … I can see where early release of coordinates can lead to some problems and I respect the committees decision to keep things under wraps.JR! You didn’t go “that way” to find “RIng of Power” did you ?!?!?
A new thought on this issue has come to my mind. IF someone wonders how many non-event caches I’ve found, so they can mentally subtract those numbers from my count, they do have that ability. Example: Below our my current status, if someone doesn’t think events count, subtract 102 from my total.
Traditional Caches* 133
Multi-caches* 19
Virtual Caches* 4
Event Caches* 102
Unknown (Mystery) Caches* 7
Webcam Caches* 1 -
