Ahhhhhh. Dropping the TB in your OWN cache … no wonder this feels wrong to you. Yes, make a log entry into your own cache, BUT make it a “Write Note” entry rather than a “Found It” entry … just say something like “dropping off a TB in my cache”, then BEFORE you hit [Submit], click on the TB’s name a couple inches west of the [Submit] button.
Yes, what the previous poster said is correct.
In summary, you only need the tag number to “Take” the Travel Bug, then you “Drop” the Travel Bug by making a log entry in the cache you left it (the TB should be visible for selection just left of the Submit button at the bottom of the log entry screen).
An added tip … What do you do if you already have logged a find to that cache, since you don’t want to log finding it twice? Simply make another log entry BUT make it a “Write Note” rather than a “Found It” … just click on the TB from that entry. Some people then delete the notes later, which still leaves the TBs dropped.
While I’ve only done so once, the Devils Lake area is my favorite geocaching area!
Caches that I recommend there:
– PeeWee’s (Pewit’s) Small Falls
– Devil’s Lake Outback Cache II
– Sauk it to Me, Baby! There are many more, but these are very memorable to our family.
Seems like a good idea.
The only “weakness” I see is that on occasion a question might be too specific or obvious vs. the cache that’s being placed, basically revealing an advance-spoiler for the new cache.
On the plus side, not only does it help the cacher placing the cache, but might answer the question for the next person. The latter could also be achieved by having a separate page on WGA with “Frequently Asked Questions”. But again, this would not help those with a more specific question.
A tip … when I’ve had questions, I’ve sent them to both approvers in one email; who ever is “on duty” has hit [reply all], so that I get the answer and the “off duty” approver knows it’s taken care of. Maybe WGA should create an email “group” of “[email protected]” that forwards to both approvers.
One should always pay attention …
http://gpsinformation.us/Maps/notmyjob.jpgI hate those containers tic tacks come in … a couple always get stuck in the bottom … so I dump my tic tacks in an altoid container.

Any good ones you recommend?
Websites for games you recommend?A side note … You think in the future, that someone will come up with a geocaching game? Either computer, old fashioned board game, etc. That would be interesting .. but who knows as this thing grows! Would be weird playing a game that’s about a game.

Congrats!
As others have said, do consider coming to an event, it’s fun to meet others. If all else fails … don’t worry about find many caches, just come to hang out with others. Or, if you find them, then don’t log them and you non-event cache claim will still be true.
Or …. why not come to active2gether’s annual 4th of July party … they only hide ONE geocache, the rest is all about food, socializing and playing with Ken’s homemade lawn games … http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=7848be9c-36a8-4d11-91b9-6aa5de5acde9

The Winter issues … in order of evilness:
(1) Less Daylight (bring flashlights, quit your job).
(2) It’s Cold (let the kids close the car window).
(3) The snow is too deep, hides the cache or the good parking spots (drop the kids off near the cache and go to Outback Steakhouse, but remember to pick them up again).
(4) Stuff Freezes tight (those portable torches work well).
(5) Sometimes the tracks of others will make it too easy to find the cache, or too many foot prints will lead you in the wrong direction (let others throw snow in your face to lessen your ability to see).
(6) (HIDING CACHES ONLY) If you hide a cache, unless it snows again, the first finder has an advantage (simply have the kids trample every inch of snow within a 300 foot circle, but make sure the circle is “off center” or Jeff T. will catch on to your plan).
The GOOD things are … no bugs, no leaves to mess with your GPSr and frozen creeks (be careful).

WOW!
Anything is possible!
The next morning … NO LIE … I put hair gel on my chin and shaving cream on top of my head. The gel was ok to shave with … but I had to jump back into the shower to get the lather out of my hair.quote:

The challenge for me would have been in making the container, which would be cool since I work at W-Steel.
See, that’s unfair! You didn’t mention the unique containers. You should go for it! I like unique containers like that … even if they are micros. I insist that you proceed!
gosh!
I hope it didn’t fall on the floor and that we swept it up … we were a bit “out of it” when we were cleaning the Welcome Center. Could it be ?!?!I’ve run into about 3 or 4 times where I’ve seen “Newbie” log entries like that … including a “Newbie” that planted their first TB and put the number right in the description of the TB.
For sure not a good thing to be doing.
When ever I see this happening, I immeditately emailed them, explaining why it’s wrong and tell them to edit their entry (and how to edit the entry, some people don’t know that you can).
Actually I DO talk to myself … but I don’t technically type to myself (yes you do, no I don’t).
A joke forum would be great!
Since it’s a small park and I assume does not have room for a big cache .. and the area is devoid of caches … go for it. I would only be “sad” if you placed the micro 40′ away from a nice big hollow tree with room for a beach ball.
Disclaimer: this is not be considered a recommendation to hide a beach ball, as they tend to pop when you try to stick pencils in them.
