    John,
Good question. Well, to start off with there are two major WGA sponsored events each year. One is the Spring Campout and the other is a Fall Picnic. The locations of these events moves a bit from place to place, mostly in State Parks though.. When it’s known that there will be such an event close to you and you have some time I’m sure you’re more than welcome to lend a hand. Some have been known to drive some major distances and spend a great amount of time in the preparations for an event… Whether it be hiding the temp caches, donating water-soda-etc… Maybe helping design a logo or some of the handouts is more your speed….?

There are many other events sponsored by individual cachers and some of these grow to be as big or bigger than the WGA events. I’m sure some of these people would be open to some help as well…

Rest assured, there will be plenty of opportuntiy to lend a hand…

    Happy Caching!!

    Forefathers,

MSS&T should work fine for you to see the caches on a map… One simple export with GSAK and another import into mss&t and you should be off to the races..

    `Good Luck!

Well, it seems there’s just no escaping it for me… Quarter sized splotch on right calf and just a couple of short lines a little farther up… Cause? Picking up caches Sunday A.M…. I was silly and wore shorts.. Guess I had it coming..

No problem dealing with it this time.. These little patches are no problem.. I know it’s high-hopes but, it will be long pants for me whenever in the woods unless I’m strictly staying on established trails…

    ~dealing with it…

Sounds like us campers should plan some kind of “get together” at one of the campsites for Friday/Saturday night?? Any interested?? We’re in #850 and it’s on the bigger side…

    Simple one for me…

I don’t really care what anybody elses stats are nor my own really… The only reason I look at my stats is more or less to judge the amount of time I’ve spent doing something I enjoy… More true now than ever, the saying: “It’s about the journey” is what it’s all about…

    Relax, Have Fun, Enjoy….

What about the people who spend so much of their personal time organizing an event? How about the people who drive, sometimes hours to “check out” locations for an upcoming event? Or, the people making the phone calls reserving campsites, pavillions, etc…? People who hide the caches at events..? Should these activitise be worth a couple of finds or count towards “caches hidden”?
I dont’ think so… These people do these things because they truely enjoy doing it. Not looking for credit or fame for it!!!

Read the poem at: http://www.rocketink.com/geocachi.htm and see what you think then. I have to thank Ken for sharing this with us… It’s a whole new world out there once you see the light!!!

    My $.02

I say one log for an event…Period!

Not too bad for bugs.. At least for today..

I lightly sprayed up before heading out and don’t remember being bothered once…

I guess the bugs stayed out of the heat today… No ticks either..

    Cool

However, it should be known that there is no shortage of PI in this park.. It’s pretty much everywhere.. I know I made an attempt to make the caches I hid PI free but, that’s never 100%. I believe the other hiders were doing the same….
