Sent PM with some ideas
After ? and Clue, we can all only hope that another creative series will be on its way?!?!? ❓ ❗
Congrats!
We went to Aruba and June and thought it was quite ironic to visit caches that another WI cacher had visited just a few logs (and months) before. As we reviewed one of the logbooks, we saw your name and got quite the giggle—you travel thousands of miles from home and yet we virtually run into WI cachers all the way down in Aruba. Geocaching is a very small world!
As Mr. Traker loves Alton Brown, had to look this one up. Here’s the description for Saturday’s show:
A Strong Brown God
Join Alton as he begins his journey along the Mississippi River in search of honest and authentic road food. He and his crew mount their steely steeds at the Gulf of Mexico and start their adventure feasting their way north. We can understand. Our first ever cache lasted a while, then was muggled. It appeared that someone found it while searching for firewood for a bonfire—they must have found our cache too and burned the logbook and some of the items in it, sprawling the rest out all over. We found the remnants of the bonfire not far from the cache. Although we do expect caches to muggled occasionally, it was particularly sad to not have the logbook of our first cache! 🙁
That’s right in our neck of the woods. We may have to just stop down to check this out to see who’s conducting it and what they share.
Fox 6 news did a whole article on it tonight. They were at Havenswoods park and showed someone with burns. They said it takes 24 hours for the blisters to appear, but the brown scarring you get from it can take up to 2 years to disappear. That’s some nasty stuff.
I’ve heard good things about Bluemound State Park, Governor Dodge (a former Geo-campout was there), Mirror Lake and Buckhorn. All are big campgrounds so not really private, but probably not so different than Rocky Arbor.
Never heard of this function. Wonder if our GPSr has it. Cool feature and very helpful in placing caches. Thanks for sharing.
Ok, after the first 20 seconds, I thought–ok, I’ve seen this type of thing before. I wasn’t really getting the gimmick. Then I looked and saw the clip was 4:27, so I thought….keep watching, let’s see what happens. WOW! I’m glad I kept watching and really paying attention. That is mighty impressive! Thanks for sharing.
If this isn’t a perfect prose for a class on alliteration, I don’t know what is! That’s some creative writing!
Whenever someone asks us for GPS recommendations for either a newbie (who maybe is unsure of the investment in this sport they’d like to make) or for a child, we recommend the little yellow Garmin Etrex. You can usually find it for $75-$95 dollars and has good basic functionality for geocaching.
We pretty much agree with most here. We log DNFs mainly for the purpose of letting the owner know there may be a problem. We only log the DNF if we truly made an effort to find it, though. If we got near ground zero but didn’t really “look” (due to snow, wetness, etc.), then we may just post a note.
Each year there have been WI cachers in attendance. There were several groups that went the first year (3 years ago??), and many that went the last two years as well. We attended the first year, and even in its infancy, we noted how wonderful of an event it is. Very well run and very friendly groups down there welcoming us. Definitely an event to keep in mind year after year.
1/3 of Team Synergy yells out a big Hooray!
