These are funny! I love Bec’s Mom’s question–even with 1300 finds, I often think we’re not good at this (especially when the 1/1’s take 15-20 minutes sometimes).
Ranger Boy– I actually thought something similar. hehehehe
When we were in Australia, we found they all say cache as “kaysh”. After Mr. Traker attended an event, we were invited to dinner with a group of them. For over three hours, we said ‘cache’, they said ‘kaysh’. An outsider would have thought we were talking about two different sports.
1/1 = Terrain is 1 and Difficulty is 1…supposedly the easiest of caches. We, too, often think that the more we find, the harder it is to find the easy ones.
You’re welcome! Glad you had a great time and glad I could help in the adventure!

I just looked to see where Langlade was. I remember once someone had done a map distribution of where our WGA members were….where did that go?
Looking at the map, Langlade County has the following cities: Antigo, White Lake, Langlade, Elcho, Pearson, Pickerel, and Parrish.
Anyone know of cachers in those areas? The zip code for Antigo is 54409 and I did a gc.com search of caches and didn’t recognize the names of the cachers in those areas. Maybe someone more north than me knows someone.
Just sent you a PM, check your box.
Mama FC–we just returned from Vegas on 6/27 and did alot on the strip. I’ll re-read our posts and send something by e-mail tomorrow with suggestions. Will you have a car? There are some that are slightly off the strip. Not that far if you enjoy walking in 115 degree heat, but a car would be nicer. Also, we cached well off the strip around Vegas and outside (Red Rock area, etc.). Let me know how much detail you want…we did about 30 caches during our stay.
Like Jeff, I’m sooooo impressed with the responses. From question to response, what a helpful bunch. I’ve seen this quick response happen quite a bit on these forums and it always makes me smile. 😛
As we have said from the very beginning, geocachers are some of the nicest, friendliest people we have every met.
I think this is a great idea….a really nice way to increase the social aspect of the event. If it is ‘built’, we will come!
The problems I’ve heard and experienced were with the “return to US” part of the Canada trips, not the getting into Canada part. Ken–I hope you have no issues in trying to come home!
campout, picnic, whatever. It’s just a bunch of crazy people getting together to wander around in the woods, staring at a cell phone, yelling hootie-hoo, and saying “glad to finally meet you, I’ve seen your name before!”. 😀 😛 Of course I meant picnic. We love the WGA events and try to make everyone that we can. For those that are new, this is always a great one-day event!
ok, ok, I really want to know the details. Maybe I missed it, or maybe it’s not posted yet, but when is the campout going to be?
Although this Act is fairly new with implementation not yet fully in place, my parents ran into this ‘requirement’ several years ago on vacation. Not thinking anything of it, they travelled to visit family in Canada in the 1990s without their passports or birth certificates. At the airport upon their return, they wouldn’t let them come back. They tried to show their social security cards and Wisconsin Driver’s Licenses, but they wanted a birth certificate or passport. After several minutes of pleading and speaking to many supervisors, they were allowed to fly in.
Mr. Traker is in Canada right now on business and you better believe I reminded him to take his passport. Although it was tempting not to tell him so he couldn’t come back. 😈 JK
We camped in Ottawa National Forest over Labor Day 2004 and two caches stick out in our minds. For an easy find, but fun history, we liked Henry’s Place (GC9AD1) in Baraga. For a breathtaking view (and lots of climbing exercise) we loved Silver Mountain Cache (GCHTDE) in the Ottawa National Forest. We only had the opportunity to log about 10 finds on that trip, but we’d recommend those two to anyone.

The Article
Sorry, Bill knows how to do the ‘cleaner’ way to show the link, I don’t. If someone wants to edit this link in their post, go ahead! 🙂
I also have the actual newspaper article. It was a full page with a picture on the back page of a section of the paper. Brian, if you want it, e-mail us where you’d like me to send it.
