Complete agreement with Kbraband! I no longer care about the numbers because I was feeling pressured to find the caches. I much prefer the occassional, laid back approach. In fact, to be completely honest, I prefer doing the hiding. I and my family have spent the last eight months mostly looking for good locations/parks. If there is a cache there, we will pick it up. If not, we will look for a hiding spot or just make a note of the location and go back to try to get some historical information on the location. I am kind of a history buff so I love to find out what places used to be, who owned/donated it, etc..

Yep, already been contacted also from “Giffy”. I said yes to the interview and invited him to go on a cache hunt. I also asked permission to pass along his request for information to other cachers in the area and I was specifically thinking of you, bnb.
I guess I would prefer to use my “handle” but not against using my name.
I too am looking for words of wisdom from others who have participated in articles in the local papers.
And hey GrouseTales, who’s Megan? Competition for the storyline? Is she from the Leader-Telegram (the local paper) or maybe from the Chippewa Herald? Or was it the Dunn County News?
Congrats Chiot!!!
When? Where? How? Why? Forget the last one!
WOW! Thanks House of Brew for including ScatterBrains 2! I had a page made with Excel that showed this, but I think yours is MUCH better. The leaderboard, however, is still available for all my caches here.
Great job House of Brew. Keep up the fantastic work.
OK, I give up… Why do so many of them have lines through them? Those logged from today are fine. Those logged prior all have the “Strike” line through them. I didn’t notice an explanation but assumed it was an error in the code or just to designate what was today’s versus what was other days.
Allow me to put in my two cents worth. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Oops. Three cents.
I know Brian does a great job and is very busy. We can help him out by giving him as much information as possible when posting our caches. He mentioned that he really appreciates it when you state in the comments if you have specific permission to hide this cache. Often times that can speed things up for him (he, of course, still needs to check the area).
Again, Brian. Thanks.
On a personal note, when I was down in Muskego area over Valentines, Brian, you never answered my email to buy you a soda pop to try to say thanks in person. Next time!

I did a quick search on Google and came up with this site as an alternative: http://docs.geoshell.com/R4/geoBuddy
That site will lead you to: http://www.geoshell.com/plugins/zoom.asp?id=286
Or, to save you time, just use this link to download the zip file http://www.geoshell.com/plugins/download.asp?id=286&t=z
Hope this helps… I might have to check out the program too…
I agree, Cathunter. USAphoto maps is a great program. Knotmaster and I are working on getting all of Wisconsin downloaded for both the photo (both views) and the topo and then we are planning on putting it on DVDs for ease of reference. We are hoping they will fit on one DVD.
An online program would be http://www.lostoutdoors.com You also have the option to hook directly to most GPSrs.
I am not aware of an online map that will allow you to add waypoints over time for viewing by others. I have had to create several maps using various sources for one of my caches (It Dunn Moved GCE944) as the final cache moves – leaving a micro in it’s place stating where the final has been moved to. I simply used map images and overlayed the waypoint markers.
I would be very interested if anyone else knows of such an online system!
I know I’m a little behind on this note of thanks, but I just figured out (with some help) how to post here. Thanks for the great stats. That is really neat. I put the stats for my hides in a database and update them manually as necessary. I have an Excel sheet that automatically gleans the info from the database but I still have to manually send that to the website. I really enjoy the interactivity of your pages also.
Great job!
