Way to go on the BIG number Kieth!
It appears as though not to many folks are available this weekend, so I will cancel the Sunday morning mappng session. I will consult with the Baird Creek Conservancy group to reschedule a couple of weeks out, and try to get a little more advance notice as to when we will try mapping next.
Sunday, the 23rd?
Yes, November 23. This project got a little behind schedule, and scheduling around holiday celebrations and Packer games is difficult.
Anybody who would like to help out with some mappping of areas of the Bairds Creek Parkway is invited to meet at 9am this Sunday morning at Christa McCullif park in Green Bay, to map some of the trails east of the park. This will be in the area of A Little Piece of Wilderness Loop (GCGVW1). It would be nice to have about 6-8 volunteers to help with the project. I expect tp spend about 3-4 hours mapping the trails. There will be some reresentatives from the Bairds Creek Preservation group at the park.
If you are interested, please send me a PM or post in this forum.
Thank you for the kind words. I found this cache near the end of a really enjoyable day of caching with ks9wi and rsplash40, who wrote one of his wonderfully ammusing logs: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=65991e11-bc6c-46a7-95d3-4b797ebdd118. This was a wonderful place to visit.
I think the Greater Green Bay Challenge was one of the best events that I’ve attended, EVER. I was relatively new to caching, and had a blast finding about 75% of the temp hides and meeting area cachers.
I have been thinking about puttting together an event at Heritage Hill State Park, and hiding temp caches in each of the areas/buildings using historical cache containers (pottery vessels, buckskin pouches, etc.), but I haven’t had an opportunity to follow through with it. There are 18 acres to work with, and caches could be very creative. There is also a new visitors center for a pot luck/catered meal afterwards. Perhaps you could consider Heritage Hill for this event?
Way to go Cachelovskys. 1K is a really nice round number!
I’ve enjoyed finding about 485 caches in the past year. And it’s still fun!
Two of my caching team had milestones on Saturday in Fon du Lac. Kadfar hit 900 (way to go big brother), and MrRRKing joined the 1K club (way to go Rex). Jim & Linda are to be congratulated for a great event.
All I can add to this disscussion is “read my log from last year”: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=522c3488-8712-464f-89e3-42dc8d4c182e&IID=29d90ae2-d24a-405c-b05a-e5b8b2205971
Don’t let me spoil your fun though 😯 .
Way to go Mike, next stop 1K!
Looks like you forgot to mention our friend Benny7210 (behind and slightly left of TLB).
Wish I could have been there!Edit: Now that I look at the picture, I don’t think that’s Benny. Oops
Quoting Yogi: “Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.” It has been a good weekend to stay home, some chores yesterday, caching today.
What a fun way to mark a milestone! Congratulations. Are you going to tell us what you ate after logging #888 on 8-8-08?
I used to part my hair.
