Here come the Bandits, doin’ it with elan! Just 100 short of 2K. Way to go!
It took me a wile, but I finally found how to mark a bug as missing. Go to your account, click on travelbug (mine), choose an individual bug, and use the drop down menu where it says recalculate distance. One of the options is “mark as missing”. Now that’s not too hard, is it? 😕
Among the many good things that I’ve experienced since starting geocachig, meeting Rsplash has been right at the top of the list. Congratulations Mike on the most recent milestone.
Two and 1/2 years ago after being introduced to caching by big brother kadfar, I bought on a whim a Magellan 200. Very limited, but I found about 300 caches with it. A year later, big brother kadfar gave me a Magellan Meridian Color, I bought mapping software, and found even more caches. After my car was broken into and the Meridian stolen, I bought my current unit, Magellan eXplorist 600 XL. I really like the huge display screen on the unit, and some of the advanced geocaching features, plus my mapping software worked with this unit.
08/01/2007 at 6:03 pm in reply to: August ’07 Edition- Wisconsin Natural Resources Magazine #1877291I just received 2 complementary copies of the magazine today, and indeed it has a photo that I submitted for publication of Cato Car Crash. There are a lot more photos in the print version than the online article, but unfortunately they don’t identify cachers by their geocaching name. The photo I sent in includes ks9wi, me, and k0rpl. Because he wasn’t credited, Rsplash40 took the picture. Nice article, I learned a few things.
OOOH..AHHHH Major milestone. Way to go Bob & Bonnie.
If you guys are going to keep hitting milestones as fast as this, I’m going to have to learn to type faster! Congratulations.
I just happen to have that weekend free, and I’ll try to round up a gang of folks from NE WI to head to the picnic.
I have been trying to track down a travel bug of mine, the I Quit travel bug, because it has significant personal meaning to me. It had been placed by a relatively new cacher into a cache that is often used to teach students about geocaching. I sent out 18 e-mails this evening to the students and teacher that logged the cache that day, and received about 4 replies so far, with one hopeful lead. I’m hoping that I can either retrieve the bug, or get it into circulation again. Keeping my fingers crossed…
I am truly awed by the caching that goes on in this state, and particularly by those who have finished the Delorme challenge. Way to go Largac!
I said it elsewhere in the forums, but it never hurts to say congratulations twice. It was fun being out thee with you when you got the milestone. Way to go Keith!
Hello THD, Congratulations on #700. With all that you have been dealing with this summer, it is good to hear that you still have time for some recreation in your life. Glad to hear your daughter is healing, I know what it is like waiting for bones to mend. All of our best wishes to the entire team.
Actually, I found 13 urban caches Saturday using crutches. After 9 weeks of no caching, I simply couldn’t stand one more Saturday of sitting on my but doing nothing more interesting than checking the WGA forums every 10 minutes! ks9wi was kind enough to be my chauffeur for the day, we started at 9am, and cached until about 2:30. I was absolutely exhausted. Yesterday, I did nothing but sit and read Harry Potter. All in all, a pretty good weekend. ks9wi happened to hit his #500 find also on Saturday. That was the real milestone. Way to go Keith!
Expanding on what Zuma said, when the DOT says they have “reviewed geocaching activities”, that means that they probably heard either 2nd or 3rd hand misinformation about geocaching, and again are too lazy or incompetent to actually perform their job and do what is clearly in the public interest. Like the officials in Brown County, they are trying to regulate a problem that does not exist. I think that lobbying by the WGA is clearly the best way to deal with this situation. If progress cannot be made with low level employees, maybe it is time to go to the next level of state government, where there is a bit more accountability to the public.
I don’t know how I missed this thread. Congratulations Logsam! You’ll be piling up those milestones now!
