Congratulations Mike. I have been taking the summer off of caching so that you can catch up to me! You’re almost there. Way to go my friend!

Maybe it is time to send in the Geopink, k0rpl, and Frizz geocaching public relations team to twist some arms?
I applied for a red jeep TB this morning. I have been caching for 2 1/2 years, have 5 hundred something finds, and can you believe, I have never found a jeep TB in a cache!?
We had a very interesting meeting with the Brown County Parks committee tonight, with Geopink, k0rpl, and my self in attendance. Geopink gave a very good presentation about geocaching and the role WGA plays in the state, and k0rpl and I testified about personal experiences with geocaching in the area. The end result after much talking, is that there will be no $5 fee per cache in Brown county parks!! We agreed that we would notify the parks using forms similar to the ones that the DNR requires. I was impressed that the committee gave us most of an hour to discuss caching with them, and I think that by the end of the discussion, they realized that the county could actually benefit by encouraging caching in Brown County Parks. All in all, a very positive meeting. A big thanks to Geopink for his very good presentation to the committee. Thanks Jeff. After the meeting, k0rpl and I continued the discussion over a few cold ones on my front porch. Life is good!
I coming too, especially if we have another post meeting meeting.
A plastered Paris should not have been driving!!! Let her do the time.
When I was “taught” geocaching, it was explained to me that logging temp caches was the accepted practice, and I had no clue that some in the community were indeed offended by it. The temp caches that I have logged have for the most part been every bit as challenging or in some cases, even more challenging than a number of permanent caches. I will never apologize for logging those as finds. I would feel a little silly logging some of the so called pocket caches though. All in all, I say play the game the way you want to. I am not competing with anyone else, just myself. Enjoy your finds, and let others enjoy theirs.
Who is planning to be at this meeting on Thursday? I’m going to try to be there, but it depends on how my leg is doing, and whether my wife can drive me there.
It is hard for me to fathom this large a milestone. Way to go.
Way to go Justin, I’m getting tired just watching you rack up the milestones!
Hey Sara, Because my geocaching has been put on hold for most of the summer due to a broken leg, I’m spending altogether too much time in front of the TV. I’ve been joking with my wife that she’s going to have to teach me how to knit or crochet to keep me occupied while I’m healing, but I’m afraid that I’ll get all obsessive about it! Right now we can’t afford to have two yarn collectors in the house.
The neat thing about geocaching is that you can find endless ways of playing the game, and still be a member of the club! Since I broke my leg 2 weeks ago, I have been logging notes at various caches that my fellow Bald 2.5 teammates have been to while making the trip to GW5 without me. I have been calling these notes “vicarious finds”, and I think that they are the next best thing to being there. I hope that the cache owners get a kick out of my “finds” as well. Congratulations T & B on your creativity.
Congratulations to two of the nicest cachers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. And happy anniversary too!
If you like the way your explorist 100 works, look into a the higher explorist models. I too started out with a 100, and am currently using an explorist 600xl. That is truly a very good top of the line GPS with a HUGE color screen, and extremely accurate. The regular 600 is a great model, and can be loaded with maps from Magellan. Look closely at the features you want, decide and enjoy. Just my 2 cents.
