Eau Claire’s been smoke free for about a year now and many of the bars and taverns that were hurting have established outdoor smoking areas attached to their tavern. Arguably, they are holding their own, and I don’t believe any have gone out of business.
I don’t believe in intrusive government, but seriously, smoking has had it’s day and that day is long gone. It belongs outside and quite frankly, exposing a child to secondhand smoke in the home is borderline abusive.
There’s actually a scene in the Exorcist, made in the 70’s, where the doctor examining the girl lights up in the hospital! Considered outrageous by all standards today, 30 years from now I imagine people will be incredulous that smoking was allowed indoors at all.
That reminds me of my doctor back in the early ’70s. He would be smoking a cigar while he examined you.
Sure everyone has a right to breath smoke-free air, but they don’t have to patronize a business that allows smoking or work in a place that allows smoking.
Sweet! Congratulations. What are you going to major in? I wish I knew what I want to be when I grow up. I would love to go back myself, but I don’t have a clue for what.
I’m a non-smoker and just can’t believe this legislation. I have worked in a bar and restaurant and I knew smoking was allowed before I was hired. I didn’t have to work there, but I chose to. A business should be allowed to decide for themselves to allow it or not. Let the business owners place “smoking allowed” or “no smoking allowed” signs in their windows. Next we won’t be able to enjoy a drink when we go out for dinner.
I better shut up now because I am ready to go on all night.

I’d like to see some sort of designation for “daredevil” caches – caches that only a young person in good shape can chase! Caches placed 10+ feet up a tree, caches placed on slopes with a terrain greater that 3, caches hidden in places that people with common sense don’t go! I realize the Game attracts all kinds, but I get frustrated chasing down the ridiculous!
A number of these can be accomplished with some additional attribute categories, something I’ve been asking for for a lone time. Why not a Headstone for cemetery caches?, A Monkey for Tree climbs, A Brain for Hard Puzzles… cripes, if I thought about it for 10 minutes, I could come up with a dozen useful icons, certainly more useful than that whole subset which includes telephone, picnic bench, bathroom, etc. How often are those used except when someone like myself want to be cute?
How a bout attributes for pine trees and rocks?
Doesn’t mean that an owner will use them. A lot of times they don’t use the ones that are available.
WTG Frizz!
WTG JT!
Having new caches referenced to your home coordinates when you call up the “list newest in Wisconsin” page.
Well, that’s got me beat. The ones I recall are only half of that. Sorry I can’t help you with that one.
I use a lot of fifty-cent pieces and I almost always get one of the two:
“What are these, dollars?”
“What are these, quarters?”05/10/2009 at 12:20 pm in reply to: seldom|seen seeks his 200th hide and it’s "A Oak A" #1907612WTG s|s. Some day I’ll make it up that way. Seems every time I look at making a road trip, something else comes up.
