  • Yes, I’m doing a tree census.

I’ll pass your concerns on to my supervisor.

I don’t like to listen while caching. If I did, I might not hear the “Stop, or I’ll shoot!”. Kidding. I like to hear what’s going on around me.

Yeah, I have a ton of them… and you can add guys who don’t put down the toilet seats to that list too 🙂 😉

Come by our house! Jerry puts the seat down….. before he goes! And yes he misses!

That’s not a case of like father, like son is it? 😆

    Sorry JD, I couldn’t resist.

I can’t stand it when a woman doesn’t put the toilet seat back up when she’s done. 🙂

Just having fun with you koolma.

in reply to: Tours – what exactly are they? #1926249

It seems to me that most everybody that responds to a controversy in these forums, has, at some point, mentioned that this is a game that has no winner, and that it should be played however one wants to. For example, logging temps, the above mentioned “tours”, and logging requirements come to mind. It also seems that most could care less, one way or the other, how the game is played, but there usually seems to be one issue that an individual takes a bit more personally. I have logged temps in the past, but no longer do, even though I used a gps to find them. I guess by some definitions mentioned earlier, I have also participated in a tour or two. I guess what I’m boiling this down to is that if a cache owner doesn’t want participation of finders in certain ways, why not mention that in the cache description and then delete the logs if they feel that their wishes have been violated? I know that GS ruled against cache requirements, but an owner can still delete logs if they want to, can’t they?

This is not being pointed at any individual(s). Im just speaking in general.

Micros in the desert. I’m thinking under rocks. Now I’m thinking scorpions.

Excerpt “In addition to supporting federal subsidies of Viagra for child molesters, Reid, Boxer, and the rest of the Democratic caucus also supported taxes on prosthetics for wounded veterans, childrens’ orthopedic devices, and an exemption for senior leadership staff from being forced to purchase health insurance from health insurance exchanges, like Members of Congress must do. To Democrats, these things are all simply part of the price of imposing Obamacare on America.” – Reclaim America

Times were tough when I was a young boy. Jobs were hard to come by. Mom would make a few dollars taking care of an elderly woman down the street, and dad put in log hours where he worked. It seemed that every penny earned went straight to the bill collectors, still mom and dad were able to scrape enough together to get me a new pair of boots every winter. Come Christmas time, we were so poor again, that mom would cut holes in the pockets of my pants so that I would have something to play with Christmas morning.

Two years ago the old man across the street from me picked a tick off his dog that picked it up in his back yard. We live in the city. He is convinced that ticks have never lived here in our neighborhood until then, and that the only reason that they are here now is because of global warming. After laughing in his face, I couldn’t convince him otherwise.

Anybody have some pros and cons as to the type of canoe to look for.

One person? Two person? Whitewater? Flat water? How to transport it? Kayak? “How long can you tread water?”

Whatever you get, buy a good life preserver and WEAR IT! Can’t do its job if it’s not employed.

Two person, however most of the time it would probably be used by just one. Whitewater? I’m not going rafting or kayaking, but small rapids would be ok. May also be used for duck hunting. I like aluminum for its ruggedness but it’s noisier. Plastic may be lighter? How well does plastic canoes hold up to ultra-violets? 25 years ago, I used to be able to get up and walk from one end to the other wile fishing in one. I wouldn’t think of it now days. Is there a difference in sturdiness as opposed to capsizing easily? I’m not looking to put any type of a motor on it at this time, but does that type of stern have any kind of effect on it?

Dang it! Now I have to talk the wife into letting me get a canoe. I always liked Jordan Park.

Back in ’86, there was a turkey there that I think had a crush on me. Every time I showed up at the park, she would come running over by me and walk along the fence with me. When other people would come around it seemed like she would get jealous. My friends and I used to go below the dam there and collect crawdads and take them back to campus for crayfish boils.

This sounds like a lot of fun. I can’t turn down an OPS event. I’m already wanting to buy a new bike, so I’ll have to work at saving a little bit harder to get that canoe too. Anybody have some pros and cons as to the type of canoe to look for.

I second what Gramacindy said. Thank you for everything, OPS. Seeing as you do such a great job planning these weekends, I might have you plan vacations for the family. It was nice seeing you all again.

The only time I ever watch anything on cable is at mom’s. There is only about 5 channels that I would watch so I don’t even consider buying into that crap. When free tv is no longer free, I will get rid of my tvs. I refuse to pay $50 for for a handful of channels and reruns on the rest. I will also be the last person on earth to get a cell phone.

Wow, sorry about that Scrappy. That had nothing to do about answering your question. I feel better though. Good luck.

Looking more and more like I will have to add this one to the to do pile, along with “Marsh to the Philippine Islands”

Let me know when you do either of those. I wouldn’t mind tagging along.

It almost sounds like someone wants to make a plan for Marsh to Philippines. I missed out on last years fun in the Marsh and wouldn’t mind going for it some time.
