Good morning Jack, and welcome to the WGA.
I started out with Garmin etrex (yellow) mainly because it was a birthday gift from my wife. I believe that was even before geocaching was invented. I thought that it was the cat’s meow. However, I only used it when I went hunting, and every year I had to pull out the book to learn it again. I never had a reason to use it more often. Then I found out about geocaching and almost never put it down. I used it for the first year and a half then upgraded to a Garmin 60Cx. The etrex is a fine unit, but it will give you problems in dense cover (pine trees, leaf cover, etc), plus they aren’t as accurate as the newer models. I have seen brand new ones for $99.00. When I upgraded to the 60Cx, I was looking for better accuracy and mapping ability. I also went with a few more bells and whistles because it seems that what one is willing to make due with now, one wishes they had this or that feature later. I have had this one for just over a year now. When I was researching the prices for this model, I found it as high as $400.00. That seemed pretty much the norm in stores. I found it online for about $280.00.Another thing to consider is customer service. I have never had problems with my Garmin units. I think most people use Garmin or Magellan. It seems that, from reading the forums, Garmin’s customer service is pretty top notch and Magellan’s needs quite a bit of improvement. That may be different now though.
That’s my experience with GPSs. I hope it helps you. Good luck and enjoy the fun.
I fully regret having to have to turn down this trip. I don’t want to take any chances weatherwise. The wife and oldest have plans in the afternoon, and the youngest is having a buddy sleeping over. I need to be home early enough to watch the young ones. I hope you all have a great time. Maybe if there is a next trip? Be safe.
I would still like to meet up Saturday morning, but they are now talking about possible freezing rain in the afternoon. This is looking more like a last minute decision for me. Hopefully I will know later in the afternoon. How much snow is being called for in Point?
I looked at the new LCG bookmark list and the first three pages were good. Page four was a repeat of three and so on at least to page ten. I have a total of 22 pages on the list. I wonder how many pages are there supposed to be?
Thanks everyone for your input. I’ll have my wife take a look at it and try some things whenever she gets a chance. I don’t look at bookmarks much because of this, but every once in a while it’s nice to check things out.

I have noticed the same problem and also thought it was due to my low-speed connection. I just log off and log on again, and the problem is solved…until it happens again. 🙂
That has never worked for me.
What I meant when I said that I don’t have high speed, was that it is a waste of time for me to page through all of the pages of a bookmark list because it takes more time to do so, especially when it is the same page listed over and over again. I don’t think my connection speed has anything to do with it. Although with my lack of computer knowledge, what do I know.Is anyone planning on hitting other caches in the area? If so, which ones?
I will give some of this advice a try when I have a lot of extra time. It looks quite time consuming for this computer illiterate fellow. Thanks to all for the advice.
I would like to be in, but I probably won’t know for a couple maybe three days yet. I will have to research my needs for some challenges that I may be able to work on on the way up or back home. Also, my wifes car is going in the shop today and I don’t know when we will get it back yet. I will let you know as time nears.
I have the same problem. I listed some milestones and FTF and end up with the lone paragraph. I have tried different things, but it all turns out the same for me. If you figure it out, let me know.
Looks like a fun cache for this time of year. Unfortunately, I don’t know when I will be up that way. I added it to my watch list.
I know my milage drops some during winter. 1) my truck does more idling because I am scraping /brushing frost/snow off of it and it is warming up while I am doing that. 2) I drive a two wheel drive pick-up and I need to add a little extra weight behind the rear wheels for added traction. 3) if my tire’s air preassure is down a little bit, I will usually leave it for the added traction as well.
If it won’t go away, I’m guessing that you have been red flagged by the government. Maybe they think that you are a part of some sort of conspiacy. 😆
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. And a safe one too.
I remember going through that fly hatch once back in the early ninties. Them things were driving me nuts. Not to mention the houses that were black with them. I could easily deal with some extra clothes if need be due to what would be a cold wind. I’m up for it though. I hope my schedule will be too.
