Good point. I’ll have to keep that in mind.

I have done my share of grumbling over bad coords. I don’t mind so much if there is a clue and/or few hiding places. I start getting frustrated when there is hundreds of hiding places and bad coords. I know, I can’t say much because I have yet to place a cache. This part of the game will have to go by your rules seeing as it is your cache. However, if you are concerned about the coords being more accurate with an older less precise gps, would it make a difference if you were to take an average of different readings over maybe a half dozen trips? With no cache placing experience under my belt, I wouldn’t mind knowing.

I’ve got my team. Being a first timer in FF, I guess this season is considered to be on the job training.

every now and then the coords you get are off from what is posted on the cache page. a friend of mine has also had this issue, the coords he loaded with that button were over a half mile off luckily he had the cache info with him and noticed the mistake. anyone else have this happen?

I use a Garmin and twice had the coordinates approx. 3miles off. I was really getting ticked as it was only a couple of months old. I was just about ready to give up on it when I thought I would go through it one more time. Lo and behold I found that I was in a different position format. The only thing I could think of was that while doing a previous cache, some buttons got pressed while it was in my pocket. I haven’t had a problem since.

    Welcome to the WGA.

For a little over my first 500 finds I used a Garmin etrex (old yellow). I handed it down to my son, but I reserve the right to use it if need be. Currently I use a Garmin 60Cx and just love it. The old one I never had any problems with unless I was in a lot of tree cover. The newest one, never had a problem with.

Congrats to Dean and Roxy and of course to Ron. I was in W.B. myself that day. Too bad we didn’t run into each other.

I was told that if they have any brown… even a square inch they are legal to hunt. There is a mounted one at the Three Lakes school and it has a brown spot the size of a hand, the person who shot it thought it was ileagal and dumped it. It would have been legal so the person should have fessed up and could have kept it. Oh well this way everyone gets to enjoy it.

You are right. Albinos are off limits to hunting and piebalds are legal. Anysize patch of brown is needed. I don’t know why albinos are protected though. It is my understanding that they weaken the gene pool. If anyone knows, let me know.

    in reply to: Mutil-log multi-caches? #1895065

I will always log a multi as one log. Exception: ” If you can tell me” this or that you can have a bonus smiley.

The other which is but isn’t a multi in my book is when there may be a series of regular caches that you have to find in order to get the coords for the final. It’s a multi because of the waypoints you need to find, yet all of the waypoints are individual caches.

I’m glad I’m not one of those folks. At least I know my opinions are right 😆 .

Wow! I guess I missed a few posts in here.

Yes. I can wait for the snow. I can’t wait for mid to late fall though. I’ll take that time all of the time.

    in reply to: WSQ???????? #1894842

WSQ stands for Wisconsin Spirit Quest. If I am not mistaken, it is a way to let cachers know that the cache is hidden in a cemetary. I believe it started in Indiana. I’m not sure if it was because some people get uneasy in cemetaries or they think bad karma or what.

On another note, welcome to the WGA. I think you will find quite a friendly and helpful bunch here.
