Tim, this is one I’ve been thinking on for a while: GC1G4QP. About 3 miles on snowshoes, and the prerequisite terrain and scenic beauty. All we need are a few more victims, ah, er… volunteers ;). I know Benny wouldn’t mind a rematch. Takers?
Hmmmm,
For our anniversary last summer my wife and I signed on for a sea kayak tour of the caves and I’d planned to log this one. But the 20-30 mph winds had the big lake stirred up and the kayak tour place canceled the trip to the caves and took us to Bark Bay near Cornucopia. They need to make money, and I understood when I signed up they could plan an alternate trip if conditions made the sea caves unsafe- but Bark Bay couldn’t compare to a lot of fine kayak paddles right here in central Wisconsin! So, it was a let-down for sure.
This is something we would would be interested in. Though, from pictures I’ve seen of folks walking on the ice we really wouldn’t need snowshoes. I assume you’d plan to hike along the lake on the ice rather than the top?
That looks incredible. I’ve finally recovered from Sunday’s outing. I’ve always wanted to see the Islands. Being that far, and a bit more inhospitable to what I’m used to for the cold time of year, I will definitely have to do some serious thinking. I’m almost always up for a challenge and I absolutely hate defeat.

Kind of looks like Colorado to me.

We will have about 20 High School Juniors and Seniors at our home for the evening. I’m sure that it will be fine. 🙄
It will be fine, right? Nothing could go wrong.
Could it? 😯 ❓ 🙂
Well, that reminds me of a New Years eve party I went to way back in high school. For some reason, this girl’s mom and dad thought it would be a good idea to leave her home when they flew out of town for the holidays. The beer and champaign were flowing reel good that night. The neighbors called the police. The carpet and furniture were thoroughly soaked. The next day, we went back to clean up the mess with shampooers and the works. Her mom and dad came back that evening and all was well and good. Except for a couple of damp spots and the neighbors narking her out, they wouldn’t have known. We even impressed ourselves.
I promised myself at that time, that I would never leave my kids at home for any extended time.
If those aren’t cougars, I don’t know what are.
Nice job, Zuma!

I really hope that my post in a seperate forum didn’t lead to these virtuals being archived. I have heard about the armchair loggers in the past and don’t condone it. I was looking at caches to hit on a planned trip and looked at one of these now archived ones to stop at. Yes there was an armchair logger that was one of the last finders, and I just simpley stated an observation from this finders cacheing history. It’s too bad the the owner couldn’t just change the requirements for logging them. It’s equally disappointing that GS won’t allow these to be adopted rather than archived.
If you want to play, you have to pay. I’m really paying for it today. From home to home was 448.89 miles that took 12 hours and 56 minutes. What some won’t do for a smiley face.
Too bad it didn’t work out for you RSplash. Maybe another time.

The only food that the FDA allows to be chemically tainted, and then sold for human consumption. Made by soaking in lye. You Scandinavians are nuts.

I believe there was one up near Spooner last fall also. My in-laws live near Chaseburg and Esofea and supposedly they are down there also. My feeling is the DNR doesn’t want to acknowledge they exist as then they have to follow federal laws on regulating them and their habitat.
My feeling is that the DNR doesn’t want the public to panic in any way, there by losing dollars. Panic might be too strong of word.
For years the Michigan DNR denied having cougars in their state, but finally came out about 2-3 years ago and admitted having some there.
I don’t want to wuss out for the second year in a row, but I’m watching the weather. Hopefully things will be cleared enough for decent road travel.
Here’s one in downtown Brewtown. GC3798
The hint says what the item is, but doesn’t give the answer. Of course, I don’t know the song myself, so maybe it states it in there somewhere.
