I had entertained the thought of doing some vrtuals from other countries like that once. I decided that I would just be cheating myself by doing that. Haven’t thought about since. I would have deleted their logs as well.
I am not impressed with any gutter”gaurd”. While most will have no problem with light rains, I have seen quite a few do absolutely nothing in heavy rain or downpours. A lot of leaf litter gets caught in them, and as tthe leaves break down many of them get clogged. Some get clogged when hornets or wasps get under the covers and build nests. And with a lot of them, A heavy rain just washes right over the top of them. A lot also depends on the pitch of your roof. As of now, I just plan on the old standby and clean them out twice a year.
Doesn’t sound like my kind of thing. Two maybe three days for snail mail. Might be months for this P.O. We’ll wait and see. Maybe my mind will change.

So gas will only be $2.75 during the next 18 years 😯
That must be what they are assuming. Geez, if that were true I wouldn’t mind paying that much now.

Bought a Prius 2 years ago. Average 50 mpg; great for caching runs, except when the pavement ends… hike in. Also changed most lights to CF bulbs. You can also buy carbon offset credits (places like Terrapass.com) which will in effect invest the money in green energy sources and projects based on how much you personally pollute.
Yesterday morning on the Wall Street Journal Today they were talking about the hybrid vehicles. They had mentioned the Prius and said that driving an average of 10,000 miles per year at an average cost of $2.75 per gallon will only take you 18 years to recover your investment. Have you crunched any numbers to to see how long it will take your recovery? I’m kind of curious.
I have been switching to the CFLs as our incandesents burn out. I also replaced almost all of our windows. A couple big ones left to go, but those will have to be done professionally and when we can afford them. An old leaking toilet will be replaced soon as well.
Not only my most memorable, but my most satisfying FTF wasn’t a cache but a benchmark. It hadn’t been looked at in about 30 years, if I remember right. The only thing around was a little piece of an old witness post that looked to be sheared off about 2 inches above the ground. A nearby building was mentioned, but was no longer there. The only thing that remained from it was a concrete slab. After looking at and studying the official description I narrowed it down to a certain spot. It might sound like looking for a needle in the old haystack, but I started digging, and I actually found it about 4 inches below the surface in the first place I looked. I really like looking for the old bechmarks that the surveyors can’t seem to find. Talk about a sense of accomplishment.
Well got back from our mini vacation a couple of days ago. The little mini maps were back on the cache pages. I didn’t do anything. I had contacted groundspeak about it, but they wanted a little more information which I could not give because I was out of town. So, I have absolutely no idea what happened. Thanks for everyone’s input.

A few times we have been frustrated that a cache seems to be unfound, but when you find it, it already has been signed. I am not just talking about 15 minutes, but it was found a few hours ago.
Is there a general rule about how soon after you are a FTF that you should log your find?
If I have the time to do some serious caching, I will be gone for most of the day. More than just a few hours. I may also be on vacation somewhere, where I don’t have access to a computer. So, if I am a FTF, it may be days or even a couple of weeks before I am even able to log any finds. Should there be a time limit on FTFs. I don’t think so. If there is on FTFs, there may as well be a limit on every find.
It sounds all Greek to me. Or is that Chinese or maybe Indian? I’m just glad to see the sight up and running again. Thanks.
Thanks Tyedye. Seeing as I am quite illiterate I will have my better half check that out and see if it works. It won’t be for a couple of days though.
Another one to miss. They are getting farther away. Maybe some day. Oh, well.
Unfortunately I am logged in. It must be about a week now that it hasn’t been there.
