It sounds like a good time. Interested in having another tag along if the date works for me? Last years Trip to the Philippines was a disappointment due to the fact of the impending storm kept me home and didn’t rear its head until well after the fact.
The caches that I have found so far in this series I would say were not winter friendly. We ended up with about 4″ of snow at our house. Just a few miles to the east there is about an inch and a few miles to the west around a foot. At our place there was a lot of water in the snow, and it is basically ice right now. I wish I could tell you more.
I bought a pair at Fleet Farm about 3 years ago for about $80. I’m a big guy, so I knew the normal caned type wouldn’t work for me. I bought the type with aluminum frames and it has a membrane of some sort attached side to side. I don’t want to say that it’s rubber and I don’t want to say that it’s plastic. I’m not sure what it is. They’re very light weight, have ratcheting hinged bindings with aluminum gripper teeth underneath for slippery surfaces. I love them, but have not really put them to the test. I’ve only used them on short walks but have been off trail with them and so far they are holding up.
I don’t remember the brand name. As for what size and style to get, there was information on the tags that were attached to the snowshoes in the store.
My vacations tend to be the 4 hour drive to northern Wi, so I guess I don’t get too fancy. I try to plan a route that will get some counties and DeLorme pages (as long as it’s not too far out of the way) that I don’t have. If we have plans to be out and about somewhere, I will load up a few in that area. If not, it’s pretty much r&r unless there is work to be done.
I have found ticks crawling on the dog in temps like we have today. Rare, but more than a couple of times. I have only found wood ticks on me in the past, at least until this years gun deer hunt. I found one that I’m not familiar with crawling on my coat. It was black, and about the size of this “o” not this “.”. It actually squished rather easily too, unlike a wood tick. Any ideas of the type?
Thanks for the heads up on the new info.

We always park at K-mart and pay the $25 (Donation) since it’s near the section where we sit. Although we quit going a few years ago so the price may have gone up more.
TEHoly crap! When we used to park there, $10 rings a bell. That was about 13 years ago.
Hwy 41 was easy off and close to the stadium. When leaving, we headed west, past 41 and did the u-turn thing, otherwise we were waiting for 20 minutes trying to get on southbound. Not sure if things are different now days.

My opinion:
3)…Rodgers need to have confidence that his line can protect him…His line can’t protect him – that’s the problem. If he had a line that could, then he would gain more confidence. He can have all the confidence in the world in his line, but they still won’t be able to protect him.
As for Thompson, I think he’s the right man for the job. I also think that he has to work on some personal issues. To me he seems to have a big ego that prevents him from taking advice from other coaches, scouts, players, etc. The man has to learn to sit down and listen to everybody involved before making a decision. It just seems to me that when he gets an idea, his mind is already made up.

Makes me wonder if we should have let Bart go?
I don’t think Bart’s not being here is the problem. Rodgers made some major strides this week in throwing the ball away. At least a couple of times. I think McCarthy’s head is getting closer the chopping block.
I have to agree with some of the prior posts. It is the cache owner’s responsibility to maintain their cache. However, if I am able to do some routine maintenance to help out and save the owner a trip, I will. I don’t always carry spare items with me when I cache though. I usually have some things in a bag that go with me, however, I’m usually to empty headed to grab it when I leave the vehicle.

My search radius is highly dependant on how long it took me to get there and how far I had to walkclimbswimboat etc. I also take into consideration terrain. But i typically search 30-50 feet from gz.
For me it also depends on the situation of the area, the cache size, and sometimes other variables as well. I have posted in some logs how far off the coords may be. I try to take variables into consideration. A hide under dense tree cover doesn’t raise a flag with me, especially if it was hidden when trees were leafless and it is now summer. However, if it is a brand new cache that is along a bike trail for example, I may post something that may alert the owner in case more cachers come across the same thing.
I FTF a cemetery cache earlier this year that was about 50′ off. Because she was a friend of mine, I shot new coords for her. There was no interference form overhead obstructions, my gps accuracy was at 13′, I turned my gps off and reacquired satellites three different times. All three times I came up with the same results. My GZ was about 50′ from the posted coords. I let her know about it in case she wanted to make a change. I don’t remember if she did or not, but of the next few finders, about half said the coords were about 50′ off, and the others said that they were right on.
I usually post if the coords are dead on. This has only happened to me, I believe three times. I know at least two were in rock piles which I absolutely hate. The reasoning here is to let future cachers know that they don’t have to go nuts flipping every thing over, and possibly ruining the area.

Our computer totally crashed yesterday. We thought it had something to do with the antivirus pro 2010… we should get it back tomorrow, maybe it was from the Poobah. Bummer having to use another computer but at least it is a Mac and can’t get a virus.
I love our Mac. We had a pc a few years back and had nothing but problems after about the first year and a half. We got sick of taking it in all the time. It got to a point where you were just constantly upgrading anti-virus crap.
Wow. How did I miss this. Had I known Bill, I would have offered up my services. You could’ve stayed home and I would’ve been more than happy to make a house call. Your kitchen table is plenty big. I wish you continued success in your recovery. To think, I was going to see if you might have been interested in a small side job. Maybe this spring. Don’t take it too fast.
I play also. I just started about 2-3 weeks ago. I’m currently at level 29 and should complete the third soldier tier sometime today. Currently have 23 mafia besides myself.
WTG! I didn’t even know that any locationless caches still existed.
On my way to drink bier!
