Little man was remarking that he wants to go to Rock Island in 2008, so count us in. I don’t know if we can make it the weekend before as of yet, but we may be able to make it a week from the WI west coast.

Hey all, I got a note today about the new thread, I put my vote in for the weekend of June 23th, I could come that Thursday the 22nd, as I could make it a week long stay on that coast of WI. I have made a commitment to the Energy Fair in Custer which is the weekend of June 16th. Let me know if you need any slush funds to get the site reserved.

It would be great to head up to Rock on Columbus weekend this year, I recall the stories that you told me about the last Kafari to the island for the season. I would sign on to meet you over there, I’m sure the tasting would be great as always, and I doubt that it could be any better then a fall day on the island with a good sized camp fire. I will have to pencil it in for next year and pass this fall, I will be on a tour of homes with the mrea. Ill get getting alternative energy and construction ideas. You guys enjoy the Island and I will meet up with you there next season sometime, Little man I know talks about the island often.

Hello All:

I am looking forward to next years event, and hope that everyone had a great summer. I do have to make a commitment to the Renewable Energy and Sustainable Living Fair that takes place in Custer WI the weekend of June 16th 2007. So my vote for weekends are either the 23rd or 30th.

I stayed there last year and it is a nice area with showers and play area for little ones. If anyone is in the area Thursday and wishes to stop by for a hot cup of coffee that would be great.

Its always good to know there will be a fellow coffee drinker on the island. I too will have my pot o perking for a good cup or java.

DC being the reluctant founder, are you collecting funds yet? Is there anything I can do from the West coast of the State.

One Idea maybe to have an orientering type cache where people go to the various locations, note there position and compare notes at the base camp?
There are many archeological sites on the island to be explored. The light house, cemetaries, the great hall(Boat house), water tower are just a few examples there were a number of things I didnt know about the island until I spent the afternoon with TS, Lorie, Patriot1, and Geopoo: who are a great group of people(and dog) helping me find my first cache!!!
Just an Idea for things to do, that way there are no CPV’s (CACHE PLACEMENT VIOLATIONS)commited, we can learn more about the area, and there is still the challange of finding everything on the island.

Im not much of a cheese man, but I do have a few good creameries close at had, with some good cheese. Mayhaps I can make a pit stop on the way to pick some up.

The vacation request is submitted, and I will talk to little mans mother. This would be a great adventure for him. I think this year I will bring geo hound with, its been awhile since she was to the island.
I vote for a group site, although I was able to meet everyone, there was not much of an opertunity to socialize outside of the saturday dinner.

Its nice to see this wonderful event have a forum, and glad to see planning for this years event start.
Being on the west coast of the state, my proximity to rock island is half way round the world to most of you, but I am willing to help out with what I can. Just let me know what I can help with.
Fathers day weekend works best for myself, it’s not overly crowded and, the weekend of the 24th is the renewable energy fair. Last year I put off the fair, but need to attend this year.

I think it would be great to have one of the group campsites for social gatherings and beer testing. TS, Is there a Beer fund set up?

Right now, one for sure regardless of the weekend. Maybe little man depending upon his mothers schedule.
