The purpose of SNA’s is often to preserve Natural Wisconins Lands. They will usually contain some rare flora and fauna which is delicate to human impact. Even the presence of a virtual cache would bring the amount of human impact to a level damaging to the area. Don’t get me wrong. I love to visit SNA’s, because often they are the most beautiful parts of the state. I don’t mind not getting a smiley for the visit if it means I get to see the forests and lands preserved in all thier beauty.

The WGA and the http://www.gc.com reviewers willingly abide by this request of the DNR. This was one of the items brought to the table in our initial meetings with the DNR. Such a simple request seemed easy for us to oblige. There are still a few geocaches in SNA’s for one reason or another. But I hope to see us willingly cooperate with the DNR and help preserve these special places.

Welcome to the world of Magellan, Land of the never-lost signal! My newest addition is the eXplorist XL, great satellite lock and huge screen, but if you’re looking for features, better go with the eXplorist 400,500,600.

On the other hand there is Lowrance… not familiar with them but I’ve not heard anything bad either.

    I noticed that today…

Very cool! The integration with google is smooth and seamless. I haven’t played with everything but it looks like a 100% improvement!

    Any hints on what’s next?

    Take no offense…

To myself who has canoed occasionally, getting “fitted” for a paddle sounded like a bit of excessive advice to give a beginner. But I suppose canoeing has changed since I last dipped a paddle…

As long as I can see them, I don’t worry much. My girls are rather hesitant about sticking their hands in holes and places that might have ucky things in them. Most of the time they’ll just walk around looking under things and eventually get bored and play with sticks. My girls are now 11, 8, 6, 3 and John is 1.

    What about the submarine series?

Thanks for piping up, but I’m in the process of archiving most of the series. I’m keeping several of the more popular ones but I’ve already archived close to half of them. Time for something new!

in reply to: Ammo Cans #1761302

Just recently, Fleet Farm’s regular prices (not sale prices) for ammo can went way down. The small ones were only $2.50! Thats better than the deals I’ve gotten anywhere else. I didn’t have the time to grab any then and I haven’t been back recently, so I can’t verify if its still this low, but it wouldn’t hurt to look!

[bites lip trying not to make comment on condoms and “trading up”]

Thanks for the rescues, litleflrt. I’ve not found anything worse than a cigarette and/or cigar in any caches I’ve visited. Because of the unfortunate ability of the caches to “lose value” in trading items over time, we’ve pretty much not bothered trading most of the time. Occasionally I’ll have some goodies I’ve come across and I’ll start loading up caches without trading or letting hte kids pick something, but otherwise its no trading for Team GeoPink.

The new Magellan Explorist series 100, 200 and 300 do NOT have PC interface capability. A huge negaitve in my book. The 400, 500, 600 have that but they have Lithium-Ion Rechargable batteries where if you run them down in the middel of the woods, your only choice is to put another spare fully charged ($40)Lithium Ion battery in.

The Explorist XL (Magellan’s newest) is the one I’m looking at getting. It takes regular batteries (albeit 4 of them) has a huge color screen (largest of the rugged handhelds on the market) and retains the staple of Magellan’s products, the ability to hold on to satelites in the roughest of conditions.
