DeeJay,
Hopefully Jeremy can get you the info in some sort of a database file (csv or otherwise). If not, the manual process is a bit of a pain, but could be done in an hour or so. If jveschminski can’t do it easily, I can take care of putting that together for you.

djwini, this is not directed at you only, but at everyone who has, at one time or anyother made the statement you just made:
I never vote for cache of the month, mostly because I have not done the caches that are nominated.
To put it in the bluntly… That is just a poor excuse not to vote. Why? Anyone can nominate a cache for COTM!
That said, I don’t necessarily disagree with the idea that there could be better way of doing things than the current COTM system.
Just a recap of the 2005 COTM Races
[*]12 months in the year
[*]77 caches nominated for COTM
[*]52 diferent nominators of the 77 caches
[*]only 15 people nominated more than one cache
[*]5 is the highest number anyone nominatedDo I have an answer? No. Just providing some food for thought.
(djwini, the cache you nominated tied for second place )

This saddens me deeply. You were one of the first folks I met at my first breakfast event here in Manitowoc. As a geocaching pioneer in WI, many of us geocachers have “looked up” to you for all the good you’ve done for the sport.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and into the future.
Be well, God bless.

Hi mapguy!
Welcome to the WGA Boards. You are probably right on as far as 10 folks having 15 opinions. GPSr’s are like Pizza’s. Everyone like their own set of “toppings” to carry along with them into the woods.
The general suggestion is usually for newbies to “buy the best GPSr you can reasonably afford”. I’d say this holds true to the mapping as well. I use the mapping on mine all the time. I have TOPO maps loaded as well and admittedly they are not as detailed or accurate as they could be. I have a simple Magellan SporTrak (for now, screen cracked & need replacement). The pricier units take mapping to a whole new level, displaying reccomended routes and talking you through, turn by turn. Personally, as long as the roads are there, that’s all I need, but that’s just my pizza.
As far as the electronic compass, well, that’s the pineapple pizza topping. It’s OK on the “pizza” but rarely adds any value to it. If you want pineapple chunks, go buy a can from your local grocer.
Hope that helps! See you on the trails!

As far as getting paid to geocache… one of the UW’s, I forget which, has a one credit course on geocaching. How’d you like to be the professor for that one!

The “offending” (term used very lightly) post can now be found HERE in the For Sale Forums.
Our knock down, drag out, closed door meeting to resolve this pressing issue facing our fine group was rather intense; but we came to an amicable compromise.

Hang tight Cathunter…
A special meeting of the board has been called to deal with this important issue facing our organization. We don’t take matters like this lightly. We’ve managed to find a neutral meeting place for the board to convene in closed session tomorrow at 9am to discuss this matter. After testimony from all involved, including teleconferencing and VOIP relay with our webmasters, we will cast a secret ballot to determine the outcome of this debacle, thus setting precedent for all future solicitations on these forums.(OK, we’re holding our annual meeting tomorrow and I’ll be sure to mention it if Beast doesn’t)

Congratulations to all nominees! You all put together a great “campaign”; sharing your thoughts and your ideas. For those that were not elected, thank you for your willingness to serve. Your ideas have certainly sparked some discussions that will ultimately benefit the WGA. To the winners, I look forward to serving with you!

Last Summer, I visited the spot in Sheboygan of the first cache placement. Kind of a religious experience… OK maybe not but it was pretty cool. I believe I found the tree that is referred to in the posting, although an area can change alot in five years. It is a really nice area and a short quiet hike to the “cache”.

Firefox has a spellcheck plugin (I believe) and SlimBrowser (which I use) does also. Not sure about the others but I’m sure they’re available… In the meantime there’s always this option
