Could someone re-name this thread as “greyhounder’s confessional”

    Keep the great stories coming!

My confession has certainly got to be when I was scouting a location for a cache I was placing. I was walking along a deserted part of riverside near downtown Manitowoc and I found the perfect place to hide the cache. But then I stopped. In front of me was a fresh field of green three-leafed plants. So, not knowing then what I know now, I argued with myself wether or not it was Poison Ivy. Three leaves – Poison Ivy. White Berries? – Naaa, I don’t remember that. Heck I’ll just pull my socks up over my bare legs just in case (Yeah, that’ll help ). Well needless to say, After that nasty rash, I’ve become something of an expert on identifying Poison Ivy. Until next time I second guess myself, that is.

Why does someone also have to issue threats to close topics by the “administators”?

I will answer your question. Unfortunately my remarks were misinterpreted. I made no threat to close topics nor do I intend to irresponsibly. My offer, and that is what it is, is in response to the question posed in the title of this topic — “What can I do as the topic starter?”

I hope that explanation and my earlier post will clarify my point.

Posts designed to stir the pot can often be a double edged sword. There is always room for dissent and discussion. I’ve given my opinion more than once and it was very clear that it was no more than that.

When posts begin to talk specifically about or to one particular person, that is a personal matter that should be settled outside the forums. When posts are written in the 2nd person (you) then it is more than likely better said to that person only and privately.

I understand the need to defend one’s honor when attacked, intentionally or not. The important thing is to be the bigger individual and let the offending post/poster speak for themselves. If you feel the need to reply, then by all means do so via email.

I’m not a big fan of deleting entire topics because they often will contain things written by folks who want their voice to be heard. The better option I feel is to “close” the topic. I believe the thread owner has the right to do that and if not, please request it in the thread and a moderator/administrator will be more than happy to do that for you.

in reply to: Am I the only Bad WI-Geocacher? #1760367

Emails were sent out to all the members of the WGA. The emails were sent to the email address that you gave us when you registered. If you no longer use it that could be why you did not recieve our email. There is also a good possibility that your ISP blocked our email as spam.

Rest assured, we really wanted as many people to know about the coins as possible. Considering the responce, I believe we reached the majority of the folks who wanted the coins. Unfortunately, as with all endeavours, there are sure to be some people who manage to fall through the cracks. For that, I am sorry.

I can’t promise anything, but I believe we had a few extra coins that I’m unsure what the plans were for them. Once the dust has settled from the recent shipipng they may be available. But please, don’t hold me to that, I’m only offering conjecture.

Very Cool idea CB&MB! That’s an awesome incentive to increase the number of events around the state! Way to go!

in reply to: How’d you get your handle? #1760230

…my original handle “investigator0711.” Well actually he gave me the investigator part and since it was taken I added my birthday.

Wow, I supose the odds are a simple 1 in 365 that someone in the WGA would share my birthday. Actually with our membership numbers there should be someone else as well. Glad to find another member of the 7-11 club!

in reply to: Wisconsin Geocoins Shipped #1738464

The girls (Beth – “Can’t sit still”, and my two Sara and Audrey – MiniPinks) couldn’t stop telling us how much fun they thought it was to do the assembly line, tape up packages, put stickers on coins, count coins for the boxes, etc.

They really had a blast and I’m glad they were along, they really kept the mood upbeat and helped out tremendously with no major mishaps! (Only a minor panic when the power fluctuated and I coulnd’t immediately locate Audrey.)

The coins really look great and I really appreciate the efforts put forth by jveschinski and Tie in getting these things minted and shipped! Way to go!

You’ll have to ask my four daughters why I chose the nickname Team GeoPink.

(arcangl7 is just an old username I’ve used for awhile)

That really is interesting because apparently you guys haven’t posted yet as my clock says 10:28pm!

I think the turkey is messing with my head today; I’m replying to posts that haven’t yet been posted!

(or maybe it was the wine!)

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

in reply to: Event caches #1760061

The way they are running that is not even close to any such “Wisconsin Rules for Event Caching”

What a cheap (completely ignorant) stab.

Anyone here care to host a lame event Portland style? We can all stand around looking at the ceiling and the jukebox checking off items on a list and racking up the smilies! Sounds like my kind of event! Who’s in?
