I’m sure someone else will chime in here too, but you’ll need two programs.
GSAK and Plucker
GSAK costs a couple of bucks but is absolutely worth it.
Plucker is free. The process sounds complicated but is really very easy once you’ve done it a few times.
Good Luck, you’ll love it!

Umm, isn’t that what geocaching is about?
May 1, huh? Hmmmm.
Umm… ok, like geocaching as in the actual hunting around for a geocache container.
yeah

OK, I’m getting curious about this one. Does anyone have pics on what I’d be up against? And If I were to tag along (possibly with JJTBA, if that’s ok with them?) could I show up with boots, food and a flashlight and be ok? I’m new to geocaching, but young enough and in reasonably good shape, so that’ll make up for a lack of experience, right? Well, I can dream LOL
Let me know if you’d let me possibly tag along too. If I’d just be in the way, you can tell me.
I dont’ think this cache is as much about geocaching as it is about trudging through the wilds of Wisconsin and tackling some challenging terrain. If you think you could make a go of it, by all means, come on along!
On the note about supplies, I have four FRS/GMRS radios I will bring along for communication.
See you all then!

Co-conspirator to make the world a better place…One other thought…
As the number of cache hiders needed is limited, please respond ASAP. Please do not just show up on the 24th. All cache hides and hiders will be coordinated through me, so respond soon.

Co-conspirator to make the world a better place…I just have few thought that came up in an email correspondence…
Brian’s thoughts in the forums really made me think of things more from his perspective. Which of course has me rethinking this year’s new hides. I like the idea of going back to the simple caches with a view. I also was remembering back to when I first began, that I thought I would intentionally shy away from caches that were in a series, knowing that I’d never finish the series anyway and they seemed kind of “reserved” for that purpose. As a cache owner, I’m finding that out now too. Rarely will a newbie seek out one of my Sub series caches that are nearby (blocks away), but instead will travel miles to do my others. I like the idea of a series as you can give your cache pages a theme to educate folks. But to the occasional hunter, it makes them more of an “insider” type cache. Thanks for bringing this up.One of the first things I did when I was contmeplating my series last year was to email the approvers and ask for advice. There is plenty of experience there and I’m glad I sought it. One of the ideas was that not everyone likes a bunch of micros for a series. Which really made me rethink my hides. I made the effort to make the entire 29 cache series different from beginning to end. There are a bunch of different hide types from short multi’s to micro’s to special containers to ammo boxes in the woods. This is the key to making a series of caches palattable to all cachers. Would each of these caches be worthy of a cache page on their own if they weren’t connected by the theme of the series. If the answer is yes, then great, you are on the road to a successful series.
As far as I’m concerned, It will be awhile before I go and do another series… Its just too dang much work. I’m going back to onesie, twosies. And I can’t wait to get a few new ones out there!

Ruth answered several of the questions already so I’ll fill in the blanks.
Yes, CacheCows have again offered to take care of our Friday Night Puzzler, so no Friday night caches will be needed.
I hesitate to give an exact number of caches we will be placing. I would guess we’d be around the same number as last year (20 something). Primarily I’m looking for a well-covered map, without bunching together. I wider variety is good too. The number of night caches will be much smaller because of the limited time to hunt and the limited area (we’ve traditionally kept these hidden around the group campsites). I would guess ten night caches, max. If you have an idea for a night cache, please contact me directly.
As Ruth indicated, we have quite a few Decon Containers as has been used in the past, but folks are welcome to bring thier own original containers and ideas. As Ruth said, we will need to fit a stamper in it for the cachers to “log” the find.
Ideally, we’d like to have the majority of the caches actually placed on April 24. Certain cache types or situations may make this difficult, but all coordinates for cache placements will be determined on April 24 to avoid bunching. Night caches will generally be placed just before the hunt to avoid accidental finds during the daytime. All cache descriptions, hints, etc. will need to be submitted ASAP (within a week or so) after hiding so the Cache pages can be completed before the campout.
Hope that answers a few of your questions! Keep them coming, this is the first time I’ve planned this so you’re bound to think up things I hadn’t thunk!

Co-conspirator to make the world a better place…They have a tendancy to freeze and break open in the winter, too.
I like leaving lottery tickets. Occasionally unscratched, but I like to give away the winners after I play the crossword puzzles. (I’ve got a five dollar winner just waiting for the right cache!)
I managed to get a load of tall golf tees that I’m leaving in caches by the handful! These go well with the golf balls left by many others!

Personally I think this is a great way to clean off my paperback book shelf. Thanks for the reminder!
Kids books are good too, my daughter has grabbed a few of them!
