Instead of my mate pulling thorns out of my forehead it’s usually ticks off of places I can’t reach, like my back.

    I would also add:
If your 3 year old walks around the house with an old printed cache page saying “Where is it?” as he looks under various pieces of furniture.

Could the CITO host have a “Junk Hunt”?
    Just a thought.

There will be a door prize for the most “unique” piece of trash found and retrieved. Majority vote rules 😉 But that will be the extent of it. We don’t want to create too much of a bio-hazard. 🙂

That will be on the page coming out soon, like Z said. And thank you, Z for adding your post. The WGA support of this event will add to it in so many ways. I’m really looking forward to it.

Other than KML problems what are some other new “features” of 5? Is it worth installing?

100 already? And in the middle of winter too! Just wait until spring 😉 Glad to have you guys around. You’ve put out some fun caches early in your caching career! Sorry we missed you Saturday 🙂

Thanks everybody. Emerald city has been nominated for cache of the month, give it your vote won’t you?

I was glad to have a memorable milestone again and this could not have fit the bill better. Great series, great fun, memorable FTF. Didn’t even have to hit any critters on the way, right Brian? 😉

Matt, I had warm coffee waiting for you at the FTF party but you never showed up!

    Pete, no I can’t shoot darts…. OBVIOUSLY! 🙄 😆

Thanks again everybody. It’s alot of fun knowing you and enjoying the game together!

Come to the Wausau Event this Weekend and I’m sure we can figure something out 🙂

Can you describe in further detail why you say the connection on the back “pooped” out? If it’s your power supply that’s pooped then I might have one that will work. Have to research. I’ve got an armada M700 and I know it uses the same voltage but it might be a different connector.

If nothing else, I can help you get the hard drive out and one of those external cases mentioned by hogrod would be really nice. The beauty of that is that you can then use it as a portable hard drive now and forever more and those can be really handy! Especially for carrying around RAW canon files.

Way to go Zuma! Most impressive!

in reply to: Placing my first cache. #1901199

My first set of caches was in a park close to my home. This made it easy for maintenance. It was also a park that I had spent alot of time in and knew the trails and nooks and corners pretty well. This helped me space them out in good places, plus I knew of some obvious beacons and neat places in the part that would be neat for others to see.

I guess my advice is to pick a place you like enough to share with other cachers, but, of course, is removed enough so muggles don’t find your cache by accident. And keep in mind that it can be whatever you want. From ammo can to manequin to fake outlet cover, you name it… just ask S|S! The ammo box is a classic great and there’s always room for them in the woods somewhere and are usually an easy hide – low maint. But if you want to think outside the ammo box that’s cool too.

Just let your personality come out in the hide, do what you think is fun, and put as much of yourself into it as you like.

WOW! 40! Thats amazing! Especially on such a cold day! Is the Wausau non-event event going to be #1000? LOL.

A “Virtual” flash mob event… ❗ Interesting. Do you think we could sell it to groundspeak ❓ 😆

in reply to: Springtime CITO event in the works #1900728

Hmm, that’s an interesting suggestion. Couple the event with a geocaching 101 type thing. I know some other members of the WGA have had some successful “classes” with this. If someone would be willing to do that, it might be neat. But Personally, I’m not sure how much of a benefit it would be… I don’t think we’re looking at general community members coming to do volunteer work and learn about a new hobby, I think we’re looking at geocachers who already know the sport (at varying levels of experience) coming to play their game and do the community (and themselves) a service at the same time.

My motivation behind the temps is to put people in areas of the parks where /near where the garbage is. It’s not only an easy way to “steer” them to where they need to go, but to give them some enjoyment at the end of the trail as well. for those not interested, they still don’t have to find the cache, but they would know where to go.

If someone unfamiliar with caching tags along, I think that would be great… and I believe like you mentioned… we could team them up with experienced cachers and they could learn from them. Even though we might get people like that, I’m not sure how we would market to people like that.
