You are right, there are no rights and wrongs, just owner expectations

That’s exactly what I was thinking, Alex… In the vast spectrum of ways to play the game, anyone seeking to keep the integrity of the game (beyond the “rules”) must take into consideration the intent /spirit of the owner when the cache was designed. In my ignorance and zeal I have violated this principle in the past I’m sure but as I grow more aware of the sport and meet so many new cachers who are willing to share their philosophies, I find myself considering these points and finding a place and practice where I can play nice, know the limits, know the freedoms, and essentially not tick anyone off 😉 I’m still working on that. 😳

Terrain 5 season and terrain 3 season (AKA, Kayak season and snowshoe season)

Yes, riverside stands out in my mind as probably the most obvious as well. That’s a great idea about the scout troop! What areas would you be interested in helping with? If you would like them to get experience with the GPS, Placing some Temps might be a good thing for that… they can take the readings and report them to me. I’m going to be visiting all the parks as time approaches to find the parts that need attention and choose general spots for temps accordingly but I don’t mind if I’m not the one to place them. That’s only a suggestion, wherever you feel would be the most appropriate for the group to help out would be wonderful.

yeah, that sounds good. I would be interested in hearing about the specific resources the WGA has available. I don’t think we’d need to pay to reserve a shelter but I see that that’s a possibility if the need arises. The only concern I have is that it might have to be in May… I’m thinking either the last weekend of April or first of May, depending on how much more snow we get this year. I just didn’t want people walking around in slop in some of the parks 🙂

I appreciate you’re interest in the event and your support as a board member…. can I assume you’d be the sponsor? 🙂

The note about having GPS download resources is a big one… Having someone in charge of helping folks download the temp cache waypoints and such would be very nice, even through I’d be sure to have them available ahead of time, I know there would be some folks that would still find use in that.

And thanks for posting all of that… I found it very helpful and I’m sure others will as well. I’ll keep in touch with you about the details.

    Hey GMO,

Would you be interested in discussing making the CITO event that you are working on a regional WGA event?

You bet… I guess I’m still too new to understand the significance of your question but I would absolutely be willing to discuss it. What would be the best way to do that?

Cool, thanks for everybody’s input so far!

Yup, like a puppy in a prosthetic leg store! I just can’t contain my excitement.

Oh, TBC, I forgot to tell you… I am a FTF hound. And winter’s over. Isn’t it? Wait… what’s all that white stuff? Crap. See you in 3 months. And… I’m not really a FTF hound… I’m a 2TF hound. sometimes 3TF. or 4. 5 if it needs to be. What the hay, I’ll just stay home and work on puzzles. Dang it, I can’t do those either! Hmm. I guess I’m out of luck.

Way to go Pete!! I need to pay closer attention! We had an opportunity to say congrats in person, but didn’t know any were due. Sorry we didn’t have much chance to chat at the event.
The silver ammo can is on the list for the next trip to the area.

    What he said!

BTW, forgot to mention that Mathman and OPS have done a nice job on this one. All 3 hides that I found so far have had personality and an element of challenge. I snagged the low hanging friut, the multi and the traditionals… now to sit and do the puzzles, which also look very interesting. Should be a good series…. Way to go, guys!

If nothing else… it would be a good one to come into town for during the Non event event and say hi to everyone 🙂

I just prefer to think it was something you were doing wrong. 😆 😛

It’s typety-type-type – >click<. How can you go wrong? Wait, nevermind. You'll just make fun of me some more. 🙄

It’s sad that Lone Pine is again just the remains of a cache container hanging in a tree with no log.

Actually, OPS, there is a log in there… the Blockbuster receipt I left back in September. 😉 Well, as long as it hasn’t been eaten. 😆

Personally, I like the avitar design of fellow cacher GMO – very nice colors and different – can we use that? 😀

Thanks, LDove 🙂 I appreciate the compliment.

GMO’s compass is a little off kilter.

Yeah, that gave it some character… oh wait, were you talking about the logo, or is this one of those stabs at my lack of smartness? “His elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top”, “He’s not playing with a full deck”, “He’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer”, “He’s not the brightest bulb in the box”, “His compass doesn’t point north”. 🙄 Thanks, B 😆

in reply to: New Logo Discussion (Open To All) #1899819

I completely agree. The new Pepsi logo is stupid. But you know what, the cola tastes exactly the same.

I sit thankful that regardless of the opinions of quality of the new WGA logo, the “could have”s, “wish we did”s, and the “why didn’t we”s, we still have a great caching playground and it’s still just as fun to play and the social aspects of the game are just as enticing, despite some of the strong opinions expressed lately. 🙄

We have what? 1000 members? 2000? 5000? If we had 10,000 members, we’d still have 10,000 opinions. Perhaps none of us are 100% satisfied but we do have an updated logo and a close to this long awaited decision. I guess I’m thankful for that, though my opinion differed. And the cola still tastes the same 8)

Now get off your computer and go find some caches! That’s what we’re here for after all! Oh, wait, they’re all frozen. See you in May! 😉 Maybe that should have been the logo… a ammo box encased in a large chunk of ice! 😆

Bravo! Clean, professional, clear. I was always (and still am) a fan of the ‘g’ but I’m very happy with this outcome. Thanks, board and whoever else deserves it for arriving at this decision and seeing this through. Well done.

When can I start putting it on my cache pages?
