It just never seems to get too old for some folks…but on the plus side I sure do love to see this cool gif from time to time so it’s not all bad.

This is a great opportunity to hijack this thread (which is in disparate need of a hijack) with odd (if not questionable) animated gifs. Anyone?

FTF! Now, where is the car?

If you want to keep with the palm… you can buy a USB/serial adapter for about 10-20 at most techie type stores. Online is probably the best bet. It turns a usb port into a serial port basically.

But if you’re really looking for an upgrade, I use a blackberry and cacheberry software… it’s like having GSAK for the blackberry pretty much. I used to use a palm as well and I am SOOoooo much happier with cacheberry! Well worth the $15. cacheberry.com

Plus with the blackberry, I can lookup travel bugs, new caches, etc from teh browser and wap.geocaching.com. It’s obviously slower than having the info right on the device.

So, what cache is this, where is it located?

This cache that I’m thinking of placing will be the most complicated, most expensive cache I’ve ever placed. It won’t be a micro either. I can’t come back to cachign after a six month absence and place a pill bottle in the crotch of a tree, now can I? 😈

Be sure to share the listing when it goes live…..

Yes, please do! Us poor jokers on the other side of the state won’t realize it otherwise!

Just wanted to point out that the author of TBS’s mentioned log (BaileyHK) always has great comments and a funny story to tell. Here’s a kudos to her and all those other log authors that make reading these posts so much fun! Thanks for putting the effort into it. No “TNLNSL” posts here!

Are GMO and I the only ones who believed that? 🙂

LOL… Well it was in a large tree when I placed it…..I wonder if it migrated?

😆 😆 😆 Wow, It seems like I was just telling someone about that yesterday in another forum! Oh, wait! I WAS! 😀 Yup, never gonna forget that one!

That’s a heck of a migration by the way!

What I hope you don’t run into is those (hopefully) well-meaning cachers who say, “Oh, I found it but the coordinates were way off. We moved it to where the coordinates pointed us which looked like a good hiding spot” Usually those are only in the woods in the middle of nowhere. I haven’t personally found any of your hides yet (regrettably) but I get the feeling you’re hides have a more unique character anyway and aren’t the typical ammo can in the tree crotch.

On the GPSr issue, despite the fact that Mathman makes fun of me, I have a magellan explorist that I got for $150 and I’m very happy with it. It’s certainly not the “top” of the line but it’s also not that expensive. There’s only been a couple times where it’s been off by 60 feet or so for the whole day… sun spots or something.

Don’t stop hiding even if you don’t upgrade. Like the other guys said, if it’s off, someone will let you know. Depending on the source, you can just update the coords on the listing.

I guess despite the inconsistencies, confusion, misconceptions, and occasional misuse of the rating system, I’d still rather have what we’ve got than nothing. At least there’s a pretty good idea there for 90% or more of the caches. Overall, that’s not too bad I suppose.

Hold on… let’s talk for a minute about bogus hints, Zuma! 😉 I remember falling victim to at least one of yours like that. Not funny 😡 Well, it was a little funny, after I got done cursing your name 😆 Makes you wonder who you can trust anymore 😆

But to keep on subject, I guess it’s helpful for the reviewers to post a reminder note tot he owner but unless the topo shows it to be clearly in the middle of marshlands with no access roads around, or the description clearly contradicts the rating, there’s not much to be done to enforce it.

I agree that accuracy should be maintained (and owners should be receptive to feedback, while comparing their ratings to similar caches in the area to maintain consistency) for the sake of the searchers determining whether or not to attempt a cache but also to keep statistics accurate – not that that matters to some folks.

so no hard feelings Zuma, but I’ve got my eye on you 😉

That is encouraging. I think my favorite log (or series of logs) are the ones Zuma posted on my Frost’s Forest Series (GC16JQE). Especially since this series was my first set of hides.

Here’s what he wrote on the final:
Awesome completion to an awesome series. Certainly one of the funnest series that I have done in awhile. Good combination of a great place to put it, inventive, but not impossible hides and just a bit of cleverness sprinkled over the top, makes for a great series, with an interesting theme.

Thanks for the cache, the Great Series, and Keep On Cachin In The Free World.

in reply to: animation for cache page????? #1895696

Right… just for a test, I tried to embed the flash animation in a cache description and it is stripped out by geocaching.com. But there is an alternative. A flash video can be transformed into an animated GIF, which can be uploaded and used as an image in the cache description. Or if you can find the same (or similar) animation that is already in GIF format, you can just save it and upload it to the cache description.

If that’s greek to you, let me know.. I can help you out.

Thanks, all. I was planning on the Scooby Doo and the Mystery of Half Moon lake series in Mosinee. If I was going to do it, I had to get it done before we went out of town camping this past weekend (either that or pass up finding any on the trip… and that wasn’t going to happen). But I struggled to get the correct coordinates for stage 3. I looked and looked, rechecked trivia answers, coords, etc before giving up (it was getting dark and rainy anyway – this was last Thursday night – the 4th). When I looked at everything just this morning, while e-mailing the owner, I think I found my error… a really stupid one. One that I had double and triple checked. Basically I can’t count. I may still try for it yet this summer if I can get confirmation that I’m on the right track. Or I may save it for the next milestone. It just means I’ll have to get to 600 before the paddling weather wears out 🙂

It feels good to make it to 500. Didn’t think I’d make it that far 6 months ago. Here’s the link to the 500th. I posted the obligatory photo 😆 🙄

You can’t keep a good cat down. 😉 Way to go TBC/BDDK/que232. You know what they say… A cat by any other name finds just as many caches. 😆 Way to go guys 😀

Well…… how do you feel about nanos? They seem to be pretty common in point. If you don’t like them… avoid them 🙂
