I use my Garmin Nuvi and my Ipod for the paperless aspect. I read the cache description on either device and off I go.
Wow, I didn’t know Garmin Nuvis did paperless geocaching. Do all Nuvis do that, and which model do you have?
The only Nuvi model that does paperless is the 550. I got one for Christmas and have had some small issues with it. 1. It doesn’t have a strap or lanyard and no place to attach one. 2. You can’t edit your field log once you are done with it. The Nuvi will overwrite the first log. 3. I’ve had a few times where I could not get it to go from driving mode to walking mode. I changed the settings to walking but it was still trying to get me to go back on the road to get to the cache. After I changed the Display setting for off road it then put me on a straight line to the cache. Other times just changing the system mode from driving to walking was enough to get the straight line to the cache.
I’m still working on getting the proximity warnings to sound when I’m near a cache.
The 550 has been great so far on the roads.

For full disclosure, my wife is a teacher and I work in the private sector.
One thing my MBA classes did teach me was that any statistic can be presented in any way that supports a particular view. The big difference in understanding statistics is knowing what the data represents, how it was collected and from where it was collected. Even when you have this information, continue to question the data and the methods. You may find something you missed.
I have seen examples of salary comparisons done on a very wide set of data. Just saying that the average salary of a public employee does not match the average salary of a private employee is like comparing fruit to vegetables. You need to drill down into the data a little deeper to find that fruit that has enough vegetable characteristics for a fair comparison. Take the tomato, it’s a fruit but it is used mainly in combination or in the same way as a vegetable would be. When was the last time you asked for a nice slice of peach on your ham and cheese sandwich?
Let’s take a small example of a High School Statistics Teacher. You should be able to find a private employee statistician with the same education level and years of experience to compare to that teacher and I would consider that valid.

I have said it elsewhere before if you extremely punish/tax the production of the private sector “Atlas will shrug”.
You must really be waiting for April 15 to come around! I started to read it but my daughter had to return it to the library before I could get too far into it.

I do my best not to follow politics anymore, but I don’t see how taking away bargaining rights is going to save the state any money. Give the gov workers what they’re asking for. Make them pay the proposed increases but leave them their rights Mr. Walker. That way you get the money savings you’re looking for, they get the right to negotiate down the road, and if you negotiate well Mr. Walker, nothing will change. But they’ll still have the rights they want, even if they do them no good. There, everyones happy. 😆
Keeping any union talk out of it, taking away the PUBLIC EMPLOYEES bargaining rights now means he doesn’t have to deal with the PUBLIC EMPLOYEES in two years when the next bugdet is drawn up. He can simply cut anything he wants and the PUBLIC EMPLOYEES will have to take it. Can you say eliminate the pension fund all together or increasing the PUBLIC EMPLOYEES contribution in chunks until they are paying the full amount?

Interesting, That means half of my wife’s (teacher) salary each month will be going away.
How long before the private sector catches on to this and gets a law passed where they don’t have to pay it either?

The Nuvi 500 is the only Nuvi I am aware of that is geocaching friendly, meaning you can mark caches found on the nuvi after you find them so it doesnt ding your ear off every time you drive past them.
I just got a 500 for Christmas and have been getting used to it ever since. A few things about the Nuvi line that you will have to consider.
1. They do not come with a lanyard and there is no place to connect one. You will have to go looking for a case to put it in. I’m still looking for the right one.
2. The GPX files load directly to the GPX directory on the unit.I have been very impressed with the driving mode and it has ben very accurate so far. Today it put us right on top of the caches we were looking for.
Of course, YMMV.
The computer won’t recognize the GPS. It will recognize the USB converter when it is plugged in.
I would start by plugging in the USB adapter first. If the computer does not recognize it then try a different one if you have one.
Keep those suggestions coming. The family and I will be headed that way for Spring Break. We are staying in Marathon so we can hit both ends. We are also looking for snorkeling sites accessible from the beach.

1. Go to Google Maps and click on Get Directions. 2. Write USA as your start point. 3. Write Japan as your destination. 4. Go to the 31st point on your route.
But that step only gets me to Hawaii. It’s step 46 that gets you to Japan!
Is anyone else still having this problem?
I was not able to access the site last night from home but can get to it now here at work. Same computer, different provider. At home I have Road Runner, but I don’t know who our provider is here at work.
Trend Micro OfficeScan is the only thing I have on my computer. I don’t have the Trend Micro Control panel.
I’m wondering if I should be running this by Road Runner support.
I have the same problem with my work laptop running Trend Micro OfficeScan. I have sent them a message the past few times I tried to connect and still have not heard back from them.
I can not find the trend control panel on the system so far but I’ll keep looking. Double clicking on the toolbar icon just brings up the Office Scan console not the control panel. I may have to see if I can log in as an admin to see if I can find the control panel.
Got a wind up flashlight and a keychain camera small enough to go in the pocket of the geocaching vest.
But the biggest was the Garmin Nuvi 500. I had a chance to use it over the weekend andso far the results are inconclusive compared to the Etrex Legend I had been using. I’ll have to practice some more and find a few accessories for it.

I just got done arranging and checking my library of Clive Cussler for my Christmas list. I’m only missing 6 from his approximately 48 titles.

Looks like I’ll have to plan a weekend trip for the summer!
