These are really nice! there are four coins in the set.

there is a cointest in the GC geocoin forums too. giving away 1 of each coin. read the thread and see what you need to do.

Yup, the thread is actually what steered me towards them. There will be four winners and they will each get one of the designs in a special edition (designer edition, I think.) To enter the cointest, you need to create and hide a cache honoring the summer solstice and have it go live on June 21st. You post a linky in the thread and cross your fingers 😀

Thanks for the input again TDSG!

Waiting on the history reports for the four additions as they didn’t have them posted online.

I’ve always liked Audi’s, but it does seem like the lower-end models have more problems.

I’m aware of the Lexus/Toyota brands. The Lexus does offer a few upgrades that aren’t available with the Toyota (ie leather, some nifty steering stuff, electronics)

My main draw for the Subaru’s is the AWD. The Outback I found is actually a sedan too. It’s a little more unique and that’s what draws me to it. The fact that it has the 6cyl engine is a nice little bonus too.
The 2.5RS I have the same concerns that you mentioned. I do also agree that being the non-turbo is actually a good thing as far as past abuse goes.

I think the jag and the G6 are off the list.

The GP I’m still considering. I’ve had fairly good luck with GM actually. And it’s low enough miles so that by the time I pay it off, I should have a couple good years before things start going wrong (in theory of course.)

Never sat in a Magnum, but I do like how they look 🙂 I’ll have to try that closed door test you mentioned.

I know what you mean with the RSX. Looking at the vehicle history report, I’m not sure what kind of drivers it’s had. There were three total. The first owner hit a pedestrian. The third was in a car/car accident (minor damage.)

The salesperson at the Mazda dealership tried to convince me that leasing was the way to go. As much as they tried to explain it, it never did make sense to me. I suppose it makes sense if you are the sort of person that needs a new vehicle every three years. I don’t. I buy a car and run it until it’s dead. Usually somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-7 years. I guess that’s not normal. Personally I like those few years with no car payment. With a lease, it’s more expensive if you buy the car at the end, and if you don’t, you pretty much just have continual car payments for the rest of your life. Not really seeing an upside there.

in reply to: "old" or "new" cacher? #1930622

I would definitely consider myself a new cacher as I just joined up in September. Though, I don’t think it has much to do with when a person/couple/group started the hobby. I think it may have more to do with a person’s concept and grasp of the whole game. There have been people finding these thing for years and still don’t get it. Then there are people from the latest generation that seem to better understand everything. It’s truly more of a “geocaching maturity level” than an “age.”

in reply to: When to ask to archive/NM? #1930589

First off, I’m glad this got brought out on it’s own thread (I did kind of steal the other one 😳 )

Second, it’s looks like we’ve now got a lot of good information on the whole process. Personally, I’ve never come across a cache that truly needed maintenance. I did post a NM log when I had started caching, but it was for a wet/full log or something along those lines. It was before I started carrying extra paper/logs and baggies. I’m still not sure if that is a legit reason for a NM log.

As far as a Needs Archiving log, I would never post one for a DNF that I had never found before. If I was going back for the LCG or just because, I might consider it. But for the most part, a simple DNF with full disclosure of my search is sufficient for me.

🙁 No go on the Mazda. Didn’t notice it when I test drove it the first time, but when I went back with the gf, she noticed all sorts of cigarette burns on the rear seats. Back to the drawing board. Sad as it is, not sure if I want a Mazda at all now. There’s a dealership in Neenah with a few cars I’m going to check out in the next couple of days. Here’s the list of what they have that I might be interested in:

    2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
    $8995
    63,xxx miles

    2006 Pontiac G6 GTP
    $10,995
    63,xxx miles

    2003 Acura RSX
    $9995
    66,xxx miles

    2001 Jaguar S-Type
    $9995
    42,xxx miles

    2001 BMW 325i
    $7995
    96,xxx miles

    2006 Dodge Magnum
    $6995
    100,xxx miles

We’ll have to see if any of those pan out. I’m bummed, but I guess I just wasn’t meant to have that other car and there must be something better out there just waiting for me to claim it 😀

Not as eye catching as the earlier versions…but the first time I could convince the wife to look at one..

You know, I actually like the second gen xb better. Not quite as boxy, a little more sleek. Still different, but I don’t think it looks as…idk, cheap? I was actually toying with the idea of getting one, but with the Cooper, we really needed something bigger.

I like what Holiday does with their pricing. The 16K price is what other dealerships might sell it for. The 12K price is their bottom line. No haggling. Any trade in is additional. It’s a nice feeling to know exactly what they’ll take and not waste time saving arguing about a couple of grand.

They don’t use Carfax at that dealership, they use AutoCheck. Same thing, but I guess it shows more records or something.

It was a rental, so I’m sure it was driven hard, even if it didn’t have that body kit. It’s still under manufacturer warranty, so if something breaks, I just hope it breaks in the next 3 year 🙂

Sadly, this is the VE (Value Edition) model. No turbo 🙁 Was still pretty fun to drive. I don’t plan on doing any racing any time soon. And if I want to go fast, I’ll just borrow the Cooper for a day 😈

You have to remember though that there are a lot of people in third world nations that don’t even have that $10. To them, that’s a fortune. The site takes all of that into consideration.
