I dont mind receiving short “thank yous”, or something similar, but what kinda sticks in my craw (yeah, I said craw) is when someone posts an almost snide remark such as “found this one so easy!” or “EASY grab”. As if they are mocking the hide that was a 1.5/1.5. Some are made to be easier and more friendly than others, I just dont get the cocky or arrogant responses sometimes. Maybe I’m just reading too much into them.

No location parameters have been set. You’re free to fish where you’d like in the park. I’m sure most participants will be on shore.
How will the official measuring be handled if people fish on lakes other than the one near the campout base (Hartman Lake)? No “judges” will be stationed elsewhere.
Ah yes, good point sir.
I’m not a committee member or a pro fisherman, but i think if people have boats and can abide by the boundaries set forth above, it should be okay for them to paddle out and try their luck.
On a similar note, I think any type of bait should be allowed as well, artificial or otherwise. But thats just my 2 cents.
Are we limiting the derby to just one of the lakes, or are all the areas in the park fair game? no water transport here, so we will have to attack on foot or pier.
Wow! Very nice fish indeed. We will be participating, but will be doing it from the shore or a fishing pier, so i don’t know if we can compete with fish like that. And no freezing them until the event and sticking them on your line, lol. If I see that same fish as in the photo, I’m crying “foul”, lol.
You gotta come Bec, you are almost 10% of the night cache entry’s. lol
There will be enough of a camp site support group to give you any assistance you could ever need.

Updated Night Cache List:
Team Black Cat – 3 or 4
beccaday – 1
goirish75 – 1
wiskey33 – 1
cheeto – 3
carriejason – 2Do we get a 12th place or maybe a “participant” ribbon? 😛
I would agree that it is public property and fair game for placing a cache. Being a cacher that caches with a two year old, I think it would be appropriate to at least mention something about it being a semi-dangerous cache if its in a median of a roadway. I’m all for caches that arent simple or necessarily “safe”, but it would be nice to know what one is getting into before hand and precautions and safety measures can be taken ahead of time.
Thanks for the update and info. I’ve been holding off on running a PQ for that area until I know most of the new ones have been placed. We may use the smartphone a bit too so it will have the new ones as they come in, but it eats battery life like a hungry raccoon at a camp site, so I’d rather have the bulletproof, energy saving Garmin in play for the weekend.

We’ve never done anything like this either, or have ANY clue what people make for these, but we will make an attempt at a “reflective” (pun intended) night time container. The worst that happens is we come in last….but I bet you guys find ours 😉 At least we will learn what people are making and make a better attempt for next year.

Thanks for the update and info BC. Great idea to make the campout reservation payment available through the store! Just curious, if you know, when we make our payment for our campsite (we are camping with the group), which of the 2 group sites do we get? or is it just something we figure out when we arrive? Thanks.
If this hasn’t been answered yet, we will have someone there at the group sites to direct you.
as it looks right now, there will be plenty of room to spread out. Thanks for the useful info. You all are making this very inviting and easy for some of us first timers. Looking forward to putting some real faces with the forum names. See you all in a week.
We’re shooting for a 3pm arrival on Friday. 100 mile journey for us, and that’s with a 2 year old in tow, so what we are planning on and what actually happens could be a tad different 😉 Is it gonna warm up for us?

to help you and answer your questions (no, NOT help you set up!).
WHAT?! No one is gonna help get our tent set up?! What kind of help is that? lol 😆
Sounds good, thanks again for the info. (as always)
Thank you very much. That clears it up completely. See you there.
