Now THAT is a geocaching motto! You should make it your sig line!

I think the issue may be that all the prizes awarded so far, with the exception of the Hemi Hiking Stick (which my daughter likes very much) have all come from Dave.

    Take 2…

Ok, prompted by Hemi’s (albeit sarcastic) remark, I rethought the list. The purpose I intend is just to keep caches from being wrecked either by the swag itself (melting, etc.) or by something trying to get to the swag (animal). Anyone in the Green Bay area knows that soap and candles are trademark swag for a team here, and I’ve had to replace a few containers as a result.

The things I’ve left off the list are probably not good things to put in the cache, but since they don’t damage the cache, it’s a matter of preference, or they can be CITOed if there is a problem.

    So here is V2:

DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING ON THIS LIST IN THIS CACHE!

We appreciate that you’ve brought items to trade, but these things do not make good items to leave in a cache because they can cause the cache itself to become damaged.

Things that smell (animals tear apart the cache to find them), such as:
    Candles
    Soap
    Incense
    Perfume
    Lip gloss
    Hygiene Products

Things that get mushy, such as:
    Soap
    Play-Doh
    Silly Putty

Things that freeze or leak, such as:
    Bubbles
    Hand sanitizer
    Other liquids
    Batteries

Food, candy, or gum (animals again)

Keeping these things out of a cache will help keep this cache intact and fun for all to find. Thank you!

Ok, here’s the list. Since people only scan things, if they read them at all, the idea is to highlight the attributes to get people thinking along those lines. I will admit it took us a maintenance trip to one of our own caches to realize…bubbles freeze! 😳

    Glass or ceramics (they break)

    Any personal products, such as:

      Toothbrushes
      Deodorant
      Combs (note: sorry Team Bald)
      Kleenex
      Hygiene Products

    Batteries (they don’t last)

    Things that rust, such as:

      Pencil sharpeners
      Other metal

    Sharp things , such as:

      Saw blades
      Knives
      Can openers

Keeping these things out of a cache will help keep this cache fun for all to find. Thank you!

feminine hygiene products….yep I have found those in caches.

Hmmm, wouldn’t it work to absorb any moisture in the container? Maybe this is actually a good idea.

Congrats on all the miles on the trails. It’s an amazing number. 😯 At an average of over 8 caches per day since 10/2003, I gotta ask how you have time for anything else?

Or am I the only one who has opened a cache and seen glass shards caused from the rough handling of the cache.

You’re not the only one. Ditto for anything ceramic. Once saw a ceramic travel bug. Well, make that the shattered bits of a ceramic TB.

I have a few times from a few cachers that reside in and around Forest County.

Well then they really should not be seeking these caches if they have complaints about them! Finding caches is not obligatory!

Honestly, I have no patience for trivial complaints like that. Gripe about lack of owner maintenance or the like, not how owners choose to name their caches.
