I wouldn’t take COTM too seriously. It’s just for fun. You don’t get a prize. Well, I guess there’s a blue ribbon, but you even have to go hunting to figure out where that is.

I long ago proposed, and many others before me, a simple objective ranking system for caches that could be used to determine the best and brightest in the state…I was told a year ago that some form of evaluative voting and ranking system was in the works.
I’m very skeptical that this kind of system would be used. I’ve seen cache rating links on sites and quite frequently the number of evaluations is a mere fraction of the total logs, if there are any evaluations at all.
Half the time people won’t take more time on a cache than it takes to log “Easy cache for our team to find.”
On the Left Side of the Road...He is waiting to snipe a bunch for January on the 6th…
Anyone ever wonder what good these ❗ ❓ 💡 ➡ emoticons really are???

Suggestion then:
To nominate and to vote on COTM the parties have to have done the cache? BOD what do you think?I say keep it as is. Everyone knows it’s either luck of the draw (who’s voting in a particular month) or a popularity contest. And we’re saying this even though one of our caches won, which we appreciate.
However, the usual turnout of voting is, I believe, too small to be really representative of anything. They used to post the number of votes received, and the winner rarely got more than a dozen, unless I remember wrong.
Basically, anything that makes the list is in my opinion “something special” because someone has gone out of the way to nominate it, after being moved to do so by his or her experience. So just having the bookmark list serves the purpose. Getting a COTM is just a little perk but not worth writing major procedure over.
On the Left Side of the Road...Time to repost this classic….
On the Left Side of the Road...They can have him. His petulent whining and demands for special perks will be a perfect fit for the ViQueens. And Our D needs some more int’s.
Ooooh….did I say that out loud?

I was more shocked that anyone was finding any caches of ours!
We were amazed at the number of caches that were found, of questionable winter-friendliness!!!
On the Left Side of the Road...Ya! The original “gift” is in Seymour — GC1J5JC
The “Tink” upgrade added a second sense…now if you can find a way to combine it with “grubby little fingers.”
Let’s see…vision, hearing, touch. Smell would be doable…taste, probably not a good idea.
On the Left Side of the Road...Thank you.
Quite literally, none of these milestones in this forum would have been possible without the people who choose to spend the time, effort, and money to put out quality caches for us and everyone else to find. So a special thanks again to all you cache-placers out there!
On the Left Side of the Road...Keep in mind that if you move things more than 150′, I believe, you will need reviewer approval. So do the reviewers want to see a bunch of these?
This may not even be necessary. As I said when I started this thread, I was just interested in thoughts on the topic.
On the Left Side of the Road...Yes, same problem here.

So, are you going to move them apart?
I think so. Probably just 50′ apart or so.
On the Left Side of the Road...Added to the evince “cons” (from the other thread on this same topic)–
Evince verification codes are potentially hard to read! Gechecker has changed from a graphics based code to text.
On the Left Side of the Road...As I mentioned in that thread, since there was bound to be other information coming in on the pros and cons and on other checkers I was not aware of, I was going to collect all the info before moving it up to the sticky, rather than have a bunch of supplemental postings in the sticky.
But instead, we have two checker threads now, which is ok, becuase I will just consolidate all the information and opinions when it appears the discussion has run its course.
