Look at it this way, Marc, they could have made the state yellow…if you’ve been around a farm, you know what I mean.
I’ll side with the minority of the BOD on this one. Well, actually I don’t know what their reasons were, but I’ll side with their vote.
To me, this logo looks old, staid, and tired. It reminds me of the old duo-tone newsletters I used to crank out for a client of mine more than 10 years ago before they made the “big upgrade” to full color.
The fact that it looks so similar to the Washington logo just adds to the “oldness” of this. And finally, if you take the text away and are just left with the graphic, it conveys nothing conceptually about geocaching.
I also hope we didn’t spend too much of the WGA budget for the designer on this one as well because, quite frankly, the original submitted version of this is nearly indistinguishable and, given the BOD decision, quite serviceable. Frankly, it looks like some simply took the original submission and clicked the little auto-color fill button over the state.
This is all a moot point, so let’s just look on the bright side. No one outside the WGA really gives a hoot about the logo anyway, and this is unlikely to catch anyone’s attention.
Yes, I know it reflected the majority vote of the referendum but, as Margaret Thatcher would say, “Consensus is the absence of leadership.”

Are you planning to submit a verify present on “SSSS”???
No need, they’ve been verified.
On the Left Side of the Road...Looks like it’s back up now.

… It catches caches which….have other problems,A bit O.T. for this thread, but maintenance (logs, pencils, more swag, whatnot) is a lot different than replacement.
There are several reasons why we don’t want others to replace a gotta run cache that “appears to have gone missing”–it’s the opportunity to fix underlying problems with a better hide; move the cache to a better/less muggle-prone location; upgrade the container of a “legacy” hide, etc.
And most important–the cache is not always missing! We’ve responded to several “cache is gone” logs where, in fact, the cache was right where it was supposed to be.
And I seem to recall on the “Penultimate”–finding both the original AND an LCG replacement cache.
These are the reasons why we believe replacement should fall to the owner. But that discussion perhaps belongs somewhere else, or has already been had.
On the Left Side of the Road...Negative from gotta run.

Well, today is the last day of the year and I know a few players are anxiously awaiting the first list of 09. Many of us are still curious about the new rules, if any, and might like to see them before we head out the door tomorrow….
They’re coming with the logo announcement.
