I can’t find it in the big green statute books either…or at least they used to be big green books the last time I looked in them, now I am looking online with no luck.

I believe the county cop would tell you it’s a law whether or not it was, just because he or she felt it was a good idea. (I am not disparaging the police here, I am speaking from my past experience in local government.) I just want to verify this in fact in the state code b4 I go making a bunch of changes.

Cache owners should delete logs of geocachers which describe inappropriate behavior in the cemetary, including caching after dark.

This makes good sense and is posted as a rule at many cemeteries. But I’ve seen it referenced as a Wisconsin law. I would reference this in our cache listings if I can verify it is in fact a law but I can’t find this in a statute search, but I’m not sure I’m looking in the right spot.

    Any help?

What’s the status on the remaining caches in this series?

On the Left Side of the Road...

Hey, we changed all the WSQs for ya, so kwitcherbellyachin. Lander and Lancelot threatening us with a medieval pox had nothing to do with it.

But that’s where I draw the line dagnabbit!

Hmmmmm…on second thought, what if I just change the name on ALL of our caches to simply: Cache 😈

Is that so you can wind it up?

If you’re paperless with Cachemate, you can sort your list of caches either by cache name or waypoint number, depending on how they show up in your GPS.

If you’re using paper, well, you have the paper that tells you all about the cache in your grubby little hands and have any number of ways to match what you’re looking for to where you are.

    What am I missing here?

Ok, let me just bring up this point, which I discussed with Marc on the whole WSQ naming thing but I’ll throw it out to everyone here…

If the whole purpose here is to make it easy for those 6 or 8-character GPSers to use, why not just use the handy gc number that is already there?

Not to split hairs, but this isn’t really a “WSQ” logo, since this mentions “Established in 2008,” and as we all know WSQs were in place well before 2008. Don’t know where it came from but I’ve seen it on caches.

Actually Marc’s WSQ 001 Streckert is almost 4 years old…don’t know if there are any that are older but I suspect he might.

The only thing I don’t understand about the ISQ and subsequent series is why a dog is required to hide and hunt…I get the feeling we’re missing an inside joke…

There really is no significant difference in those who claim an “official” Spirit Quest cache and any other cemetery cache.

Agreed…I just brought it up b/c I had seen this verbiage for the first time recently and wondered what the heck that claim was all about…just in case others have the same question.

is their some official organization I need to register for first? .

No, but there is a group that started placing caches in Indiana about the same time that Spirit Quest caches began showing up in WI (I believe), that has spread to other states, that claims the moniker of “Genuine [name of state] Spirit Quest Caches.” To get on their master list, you have to follow their template and register your cache with them. Do a name search on “Indiana Spirit Quest” on gc.com and there is some info there.

Well, you’re allowed that particular one!

After some lively debate with Mr. Marc we have followed a WSQ # naming convention for our cemetery caches and will probably go back and edit some of the ones that go back a few years also.

Apparently the main reason for this is that some GPS devices limit the number of characters that can show for a waypoint so this allows for easier identification.

And also, it is quite easy to have several “St. Whoever Cemetery” within a short distance of each other.

Ya, the more I thought about this the more obvious the answer to the question became…just like ?s or multis these are something different and/or take some extra work.

Now, make it a truly virtual cache like the ones that were published in the olden days when you didn’t even have to get out of your car to log the find, and it would be a different story…including about 1,000 logs from cachers in Germany doing “online finds” 🙄
