Are there bad areas in WI?

Well, we’ve gotten the back window of our van smashed by vandals whilst geocaching…made for an expensive weekend and shook up the kids 😡

And one person’s “bad” area is not another’s…

    PNPUR

I lost sleep over PNPUR. I am sure there are some of you out there that know what I mean.

Yeah, one of those ones you don’t understand until you find the cache… 😈

you mean cache owners change their listings after they are approved and published? say it ain’t so!

Cleanup=putting back in all the nice formatting that the review process mysteriously stripped out…adding images that were uploaded with the cache but mysteriously never made it to the page…changing the owner name after adoption…fixing the occasional error….adding more detail and clearer instructions in a futile attempt to avoid logging problems by people who don’t take the time to fully read the cache page…yada yada

As a writer who constantly has to deal with companies insisting on unusual formatting (no upper case, all upper case, some italics, all italics, etc…)…

All I can say is “good luck with that.” Geoaware better be willing to take it upon themselves to monitor all the listings after they are published. (Yes, listings go there first, but there is a lot of owner cleanup that occurs after the adoption is made.)

I do beleive it’s not respectful for geocachers to be strolling up and down cemeteries looking for people just to play a “game”.

It really depends upon the type of person/people. Having a big group of people whooping it up in a cemetery–not appropriate. But, if done respectfully, strolling around is no different from doing things such as walking up and down every row of a cemetery in the hopes of finding someone who belonged in your family tree, for instance. Both activities are done for purely personal reasons.

It’s all about how people respect the place, and if they remember it’s a cemetery first, a public place second, and everything else (genealogical site; geocaching place; historial venue; interesting photography site) last.

Although on the flip side of that scenario there is a fellow cacher in the Twin Cities that has been known to place caches as: Undetermined container with coordinates only, no write up, no clue and no attributes. A true minimalist geocacher.

That sounds ok as long as his coordinates aren’t 79.2 feet off.

    “Watch some tennis”

For a mirco cache…near a tennis court complex…with approximately 50 yards of tennis court chain link fence and GZ smack dab in the middle…but the cache is in a tree near the road 😕

First of all, I’m amazed that reviewers would get responses that equated to “bite me.” But I guess I’m not surprised. That could make for interesting reading.

Second, I think that “Lame Hints” needs to be a forum thread…but I ain’t starting it. 😯

It is also possible that they are maintaining the listing on another site, or as a private geocache.

    An excellent point; thanks.

Does anyone else have particularly good experience with bugs that travel out of the country? Out of about a dozen bugs, we have one that made its way overseas to Germany, and it is moved and discovered much more frequently than any others we have.

Do we have bug saturation in the US?

Oh, that would make it worth passing up a jillion caches right in Appleton. My gig’s the 22nd at UW-Fox Valley. How far would it be to drive from there to Green Bay and the letterboxes, then back? I have a noontime gig and then one that evening.

Plus, if the timing’s right…..I could become one of those “furriners” getting FTFs, LOL.

The third letterbox is slated for Navarino…it’s an ammo box…sitting in the back of the van. We were SUPPOSED to put it out today, but I got icy dagger stares from the kids when I said “Who wants to go caching today?” Apparently they wanted to decompress today, so that’s what we did. But the box will definitely be out there by the 22nd in order to be available for the Navarino event.

However, getting to all three in one day would be a pretty big triangle from UW-Fox Valley. As the crow flies, about 30 miles from UW to the “Rose” letterbox, maybe 6 miles north to the “meadowbrook” box, and then about another 30 miles west to the Navarino box. I think you’d have to pick one destination over the other.

I was hoping to find a couple already solved puzzles, and if time, go north to the land of two new letterboxes!

Could be three new by the time you get here…

What about that little dead zone between Camelot and Sellzup? Seem to recall a number of caches there, don’t know who placed them offhand.

The borders are like your memory – vague and foggy.
