Pulaski part of Mathatopia??? Hmmm..
What about that little dead zone between Camelot and Sellzup? Seem to recall a number of caches there, don’t know who placed them offhand.
On the Left Side of the Road...For the most part, I think that anything that breathes new life into the game is a good thing. And these caches pretty much fit the bill, based on what I have read/heard (haven’t done any yet).
My only observation is that the 1/1 rating is not a default. That is, D/T ratings are blank on the form, and you must choose some rating as the owner or the listing won’t go through, so a decision is being made to publish them as a 1/1.
Therefore, they would seem to be best published as mystery caches, in fitting with the theory that this alerts cachers that there is “something different” about them.
And I recall there was someone who liked to admonish people who published T1 caches that weren’t truly handicap accessible. Can’t recall offhand who that was.
On the Left Side of the Road...First week of school:
All supplies laid out the night before by the door. Kids alarms ring at 5:55. Kids downstairs by 5:58, fully dressed. 6:00 breakfast eaten, teeth brushed. Final checks at 6:05. 30 minutes to the bus, but they want to wait outside and watch for it.
About one month into school:
Kids’ alarm rings at 5:55. Kids shut off alarm and go back to sleep. Mom wakes kids up at 6:00. Dad wakes kids up at 6:10. 6:15, son has made it out of bed but is building Lego sculptures. Daughter stumbles out of room and promptly bites off head of anyone in her path. 6:20, still nagging at kids to get ready and eat breakfast. 6:25 “kitchen is closed” is announced and kids howl. 6:30, “Where is my lunch? Where is my snack? Where are the forms I need signed so I can go on my field trip today? I forgot to do my homework.” 6:32, “Hurry up, we can see the bus coming down the road!!!” 6:35, kids sprinting down the driveway frantically flagging down bus that has just flown by.
On the Left Side of the Road...People will grumble about coordinates if they are the grumbling kind no matter what you do. If it makes you happy to place a cache, do it. No need to reinvest. IMO, anyay.
On the Left Side of the Road...I didn’t know there WERE 100 earthcaches! Congrats!

I see you placed a new letterbox hybrid! Yippee! We got Digital Dan’s yeterday. With your new one, that leaves five more in Wisconsin for us to find.
We’d gladly have more placed so getting all of them isn’t so easily attained, though!
Rest assured, our next trip up that way will include this one!
I knew my ears were burnin’ for a reason.
You’re welcome! Our only regret on our recent trip to MN is that we couldn’t swing “down south” to pick up your letterboxes. They were on the radar but we spent all our time at Bjornson. We had hoped to drop off a combo travel bug/hitchhiker stamp…maybe it will make it west yet!
On the Left Side of the Road...It seems older caches in particular allow this and may have been set up differently if they were done today.
For instance, Door County Challenge GCGE6B is a multi cache with four distinct caches that can be logged. And you’re darn right we were going to do four logs on that one! I’m guessing if this were set up now it might be DCC #1, #2, etc., which would actually be more representatitive of the cache and its difficulty since all stages are not 1/1.
So it’s difficult to answer the poll question, because the answer is not always/only, but really is “it depends.”

Well, I had not given a thought to who, but this posting has brought up one name……
Now, you best be careful, lest another sock puppet emerge to target caches that have had multiple DNFs because the coordinates were off by 80 feet… 😯
On the Left Side of the Road...Chalk up another vote in the “looking forward to winter” column. The more snow the better.
(Remind me I said this when February comes.)
On the Left Side of the Road...I cannot say enough good things about these caches. We went there with our two kids (9 and 6) with the intention of doing an hour or 2 and seeing what we could find. We spent 2 1/2 hours and found 10, and were surprised we were out there that long because the time just flew by.
These caches are an inspiration–every one we found was a great, appropriately sized container. About 1/2 were ammo cans. All, and I mean all, were well stocked. Caching is not about the stuff in the caches, and our kids are used to not taking anything from caches. Nevertheless, we headed out w/ a backpack with trade items, and used them all. The evidence of recent and frequent owner maintenance is clear.
We were also worried that, with the density of caches, how good could these be? Were they just stuck somewhere just to have a cache? No–each one we found had a purpose for a different area. And the one by the spring was great–we enjoyed the cool drink at the end of the hike.
Some day, the missus and I will have to come back for the other 17, but there’s no way we were going to climb those hills with the family in tow.
Anyway, thanks mamakat for putting these out and to everyone for their advice and to bnb for passing the FANTASTIC tip sheet (from mamakat) along. It was a great “road map” for the adventure.
On the Left Side of the Road...Here’s one to watch if you like to watch DNFs get logged: GC1EHJB. Originally published as a 1.5/2.
I could tell you the lengths that Peach went through to find this one…but I won’t. Remember, anyone with over 500 finds “should of found this by now.” Any takers????

I’m guilty of something like this. I had a cache that was off by 4209.7 feet. Fat fingers. Instead of 91* 19.xxx I had punched in 18.xxx 😯 😯 😕 😳 🙄 OPPPS!
The difference being, you would have fixed the coordinates after the first few DNFs. And you probably would have responded to the emails I would have sent you before I attempted this cache, unlike this cache owner.

For me, hiding them is even more fun than finding them.
Fortunately there are lots of people who feel this way, or there would be nothing for everyone to do.

Update. This has been found…and only 500 feet from where it is supposed to be located…in fact it now is 15 feet away from a brand new cache just placed and yet to be found….um reviewers I see an issue here…..
Uh…yup. We were on our way out west this morning and thought we’d give it a go. Knew the area pretty well so we approached it from the north and then we saw a few pine trees and a sign that said Pella Park.
Found the cache, signed the log, got to the hotel to get on the computer, noticed others had tried it b/c there are other new caches in the area that popped up after we were already on the road.
Cache has already been archived.
It worked out fine for us, but a real waste for Lostby7 and any others who took a stab at a cache that was over .1 mile from the posted coordinates. 😡
AND, it wasn’t off by just one number in the coordinates, it was on a big diagonal, so who knows what the heck was going on!!!
On the Left Side of the Road...How about on yet another flip side of this topic….by what point should a cacher have placed some caches? Granted, some like hiding more than finding, but what of the IDs that have over 1000 caches and no hides?
