Well, I guess it will be a while before someone logs my A Carol for Papr Dolls as memorable.
Unless someone has already signed the cache log but not logged it online in order to encourage more finders…BUWAHAHAHA!!!!
On the Left Side of the Road...“Ultimategeocaching.net” has one cache on it, so at first I thought it was about as useful as terracache or navicache, but after reading their one and only caching “story,” I’m not so sure:
One of the most famous geocaches was of such substance that the most militarily powerful nation in human history (therefore intellectually self-impaired) started a war to find the cache, slaughtered thousands, destroyed city water, sewage, electricity, transportation, housing, hospital, schooling, food and commerce systems in several cities, and without finding the cache, continued the war at cost of hundreds of billions of dollars, the lives of more cannon fodder, the failure of its military veteran medical services system, and is preparing to extend the war to another neighboring country. That is the effect of geocaches, even the illusion of them. Iraq Saddam Hussein’s illusion of hidden Weapons of Mass Destruction will go down in history as the geocache that fooled the American fools into their government’s belated self-demise, much to the amusement of the observers. When the US government leader Vice President Dick Cheney and his Side Kick George Bush attack Iran, in pursuit of a nuclear geocache, the results will facilitate historians recording the fact that Saddam will have by that process defeated the clueless George Bush and the US military industrial empire.

I do really like this one as it is simple and to the point. And it doesn’t look like it came off of a Minute maid can like the orange tree in the shape of WI.
WOW! I hope sometime you spend a lot of time on a creative project pro bono only to have it ridiculed and trivialized! 😯

Can we get a link to Big Bob’s Bulletin Board O’ Caches too?
Just to correct the record, it’s Bob’s Big Bulletin Board O’ Caches 😛
Here at Bob’s, we don’t worry about none of them “standards” thingies that the uppity gee-oh-cachin-dot-com site has. Hide what you want, where you want it, and list it any ol’ way you please. Just drop Bob a note when you’re done and we’ll post a note to the nearest tree. Who knows–maybe someone will even see it and go find your cache!
On the Left Side of the Road...I really like the shape idea s|s, but I prefer the simpler/more realistic leaf design to the latest one. My 2 cents…
On the Left Side of the Road...Thanks for the info.
We had heard about this “through the grapevine” but couldn’t find it anywhere, and we assumed it applied to trad caches which is what all the seed caches we have found have been published as. We thought it was ok to do as an “other” cache according to gc.com guidelines but it became an issue on a proposed cache placement of ours and in doing research we found this thread.
So we just wanted to see if there is a Big Book o’ Rules out there that we missed along the way for our future reference to stay w/in the rules. If there isn’t, I would think it should be added to the WGA “hiding a cache” page and ideally the gc.com cache-hiding page itself, which was just updated end of Feb.

Aren’t the children suppose to assist with the puzzle solve?? That should give us another year of cushion…
Nah, while some parents play Mozart for junior in utero, dad-Cachelovsky was reading him calculus textbooks. We don’t stand a chance…
On the Left Side of the Road...I know it’s rare of me to disagree with you Marc 😉 but a lot of times the paper logs are different or more detailed than the online logs. In-field notes can be fresher etc. So don’t throw gotta run’s books away!
On the Left Side of the Road...Congratulations!!!
Now you can take Jr. along to get the FTF on future “Jigsaw” caches!!!

That is correct. Groundspeak changed the policy around 3 months ago.
Do you know where this is referenced? I can’t find it in the latest 2/21/08 “guidelines” so I fear I’m missing seeing another link that’s out there.

And if there’s no room for 2 log books? Is it kosher to replace then offer to mail the old one to the cache owner?
Well you gotta use your judgment. But since the cache belongs to the cache owner the cache owner should decide, and be responsible for, what happens to the log book over time.
I can’t think of too many instances where there wouldn’t be room to put in another piece of paper temporarily, or where you couldn’t find some spot on the log book somewhere to note your initials and a date, except perhaps a nano-scroll. Then note in your online log that the book is full and/or email the owner.
Again, I would never, as a rule, take a log book out of a cache. We’ve been to caches that have had multiple “legacy” log books in them and we enjoy reading some of the logs and history of the cache.
On the Left Side of the Road...It’s very nice if you are able to have a spare notebook with you and replace a full one. However, please don’t remove the full log book from the cache. The owners may want to retrieve it and keep/read it.

I probably would not make a cache like that.
Why not? I am aware of some recently published caches–single containers–specifically designed to be logged multiple times as part of meeting various requirements.
And HECK NO! I am NOT going to list the GC numbers of those here so someone can go and check if they are non compliant! I’m not out to ruin anyone’s fun!!!!!!!!

I think I am going to build a cache that allows as many finds as people want to log.
-cheeto-Don’t try it! I just tried it on a multi-part cache and the cache was disabled for two reasons, one of which was, and I quote, “I do have to discourage multiple logging of the cache.”

You need to read the WGA bylaws!
I did, from top to bottom, before jumping into this, and there’s nothing in them about gc.com, or any other site for that matter. But all the ancillary “stuff” on the WGA site (links, etc) does point to gc.com, and only gc.com.
My only point is that since this forum started with, basically “why I voted ‘no’ to multi logging events,” and the referendum itself referred to “groundspeak” and not other sites. So it’s not really to the point to say “Well, you can always log them somewhere else.”
I’m sorry if that reply came off as flippant but it’s just my opinion. I’ll just leave the topic alone. 🙁
