From what I saw and experienced, I no longer consider the FAN HOF an honor, because something you can buy, is not an honor. Think I will hunt down the phone number for John O’Neill (St. Vince) and see what he has to say about the HOF

Well obviously this guy has $$$ to amass the collection of memorabilia (on a teacher’s salary I might add).

But on the other hand that is chump change to the Packers’ org.

Maybe you have some inside intel that isn’t clear from the outside though…

What is clear is that there were MANY other compelling fan stories among the finalists this year, yours included. Simply deciding you like a team and buying a bunch of memorabilia does not make a Packers Fan…as we all know.

Because I’m too lazy to research it, what was the reason for this change?

    Mystery solved:

He also got support from fellow members of the Packers Partners Club of Champions, the team’s fan club. Three members who live in Wisconsin agreed to help Steele with paper ballots in the contest. He had never even met two of them.

So I’m guessing he got local people to send him paper ballots or he just made copies, distributed them (maybe it was a class assignment), then ship them back to the WI folks who dropped them in a box, just like T&B indicated.

    Really???? 😕

That says a lot. I would think that he would have gone out of his way to talk to the other people and be magnanimous, particularly given some of the accusations being made. It would have been the perfect time to say, “Rick, you ran a good race and I just want you to know there really wasn’t anything fishy going on.”

Interesting indeed. Who would have thunk he could muster over 7,000 individually mailed ballots…

“This year’s totals more than doubled last year’s votes, which named Steele the winner. Steele’s total votes numbered 37,275 and runner-up Rick Wiltzius votes’ totaled 33,838.”

It looks like Steele was able to score over 7,000 paper ballots. Maybe it was class homework…

According to rules, each of those ballots was supposed to be mailed in separately unless they went in a Goodwill, etc. drop box…it would be interesting to know how that played out (or if the rules even mattered).

I’m a frequent FB user but I never go to the WGA page there. There is nothing I get there that I cannot get here. Not a criticism, just a fact of my usage habits.

Not a single quote, but one of my favorites.

The motto of Scouting is Be Prepared.

Someone once asked Baden-Powell, “Be prepared for what?”

    To which, he responded:

    “Why, for any old thing.”

I’m a scout leader, and don’t get me started.

What I’ve found effective is that when parents complain, I tell them they need to fill out a complaint form, which is also called an Adult Leader Application.

That’s a gray area. Personally I would not consider it a DNF because you did not look for the final. It’s not a “did not find” as much as it is a “did not attempt.”

Again personally, I did not submit reports for caches where I did not reach ground zero and conduct a search. However, I have seen players log DNF points in the LCG for caches they did not attempt because it was too far to walk, etc.

Sorry for beating the dead horse, but ran into a scenario today that gives all cachers and geocaching a bad impression to the public.

New caches published and the page clearly states they aren’t available after dark. The parking area also has a sign (where one of the caches is located) that clearly states the area is closed at dark. The one at the sign right at the parking area and is logged last night as a FTF and I blow it off as “OK” because it’s near the road. No other logs on the rest, so I give the benefit of doubt that they did the right thing. I did two others on the way to work this morning and noticed lots of footprints near both GZ’s. Sure enough the same cacher(s) signed these 2 logs which meant they were trespassing last night in a nature area. The online logs also clearly state the time and it’s obviously well past “dark”.

Maybe that falls into the “don’t tell me how to play the game” category… 😛
