What a great way to have redundant catches in the field…we saw enough of this through LCG point chasing in the past…

At least it was awesome! Better than “easy cache for our team to find.” On. Every. Cache. Then be sure to leave the cache lying in the open so it gets mugged. Heck, it’s fun for me!

in reply to: What is your experience with school groups? #1953820

I wasn’t using caches for school groups, school groups were using my caches. Which is of course ok.

But I have had two ammo boxes disappear in Pulaski after a summer school course. Today I went out to an ammo box in Green Bay, a puzzle final, not real difficult but it is a puzzle so doesn’t get found a ton. The area looked like a cluster bomb went off! So I archived it.

Nothing you can do about it, just gotta watch it.

Or place more caches a few miles in the middle of nowhere….

This happened to me yesterday. I shut down GSAK, unplugged the Garmin, reconnected and it worked. If you’ve tried that already…dunno.

The path looks incomplete unless you purposefully deleted the file name for your post. Otherwise I would expect to see FGarmingpxgeocachesFILENAME.gpx

Three reasons why these things are doomed.

    1. The stats don’t count. People like their numbers and without integration into the regular world of geocaching, all this is, is another Waymarking.

    2. Lack of ownership. Even if you can somehow find what you created, nobody else knows. Cache owners like people to know what they created. Without creators, no challenges.

    3. No new experiences. Cheeto’s walmart discovery aside, most challenges I have seen take you to somewhere you already are because you are geocaching. Row to an island? There’s a cache there. Paddle the wolf river? Ditto. Hug a big tree in cathedral pines? Why not just go find the cache. I’m sure there are exceptions but the majority of what I have seen are simply adjunct, “why bother” activities.

I did a challenge today in PA. Within Hazleton there is a single geocaching challenge.

It’s visit the walmart and take your picture.

What I found interesting was there’s a mcdonalds inside their walmart. Hadn’t seen that pairing before.

And here I thought you didn’t learn anything from doing challenges. Boy was I wrong!!!

I don’t see what’s unclear about this at all. “I’ve produced some very victorious ecommerce websites for my customers.”

Who doesn’t want a victorious ecommerce website?

What bank in Nigeria can I wire some money to?

Somebody posted something on this topic at one time (not on this thread) that was an eye opener for me. Essentially it said that this is the only hobby he knew of where people will complain when someone thanks them.

May 2006; originally went by an eponymous handle until I started getting phone calls from people who couldn’t find caches or were stuck on puzzles…

I used to use our gotta run stamp from letteboxing, but I am just a big fan of Get Fuzzy, and particularly Bucky. I use different variations for different online venues.

Bucky is a giant PITA but he’s basically harmless, which pretty much describes me.

They get picked up auto-magically when they go long enough unfound. Right now they must not have been found since last October. But the list does not regenerate until November 1.

    Who, me? 😆

I’ve thrown a few fire bombs but only about things that people do, IMHO, that ruin others’ enjoyment of the game. Crappy logs only show up in my inbox and I hit the delete button. They don’t affect other players and I choose not to let them affect me, again because I “consider the source.”
