It’s another example that how things appear is very important to the acceptance of this game by the non caching public.
On the Left Side of the Road...I know the topic of like/dislike cemetery hides in general has been discussed before but it doesn’t hurt to bring it up again.
As an amateur genealogist and general aficionado of “old stuff,” I appreciate cemeteries. Problems with cemetery hides have always come from hiders who try to do clever hides in cemeteries, causing finders to draw undue attention to themselves, and from finders who do not exercise good discretion, whether hunting cemetery caches at night or generally being disrespectful of the place.
As with so many things in life, common sense unfortunately isn’t common.
I do believe the permission enforcement decision was a good use of discretion by reviewers.

I cracked 10 eggs before leaving home and put them in a Nalgene widemouth water bottle. Much easier than trying to use eggs in the shell on a kayaking trip. 🙂
Can you get individual eggs out using this method?
Yes, a camping egg holder takes up a lot of room in the cooler.
On the Left Side of the Road...One for the kids that they can usually do themselves when they get tired of the same ol’ smores:
Three foot length of closet rod.
Strech a biscuit from a can of biscuits over the top of the rod to make a cup.
Toast till brown (will slide off easily when done–if it sticks it’s not done)
Fill with pudding or pie filling. Top with whipped cream if desired. On the Left Side of the Road...@cheezehead wrote:

Ah-course, if you’re looking for the wow factor with camping noobs or kids, make some omelets in Ziploc bags, or cook some eggs & bacon in a paper bag over the coals.
Are willing to share? I’ve never heard of either of these.
Very simple CJ. Big pot of boiling water and zip loc bags. I recomend freeze bags. Cut up what ever you want in your omlete, add eggs, and drop into boilng water, and let boil tell eggs set..
Paper bags are kinda tricky. Though everything in a PAPER bag, use a stick to hang bag over coals, just dont get the bag to close to the coals.
Both work pretty kewl.My recollection, and it’s been a while since we did this since it was a bit more show than substance, was two strips of bacon on the bottom, topped by hash brown patty, crack egg over top and add stuff. Cook over COALS–any flame and you have instant omelet flambe.

I can hardly wait to see the forum discussion on the new “front yard” icon. The timing is ironic.
Didn’t really want to go there with this thread but I knew it would be mentioned. Had to be you…. 😛
This new “Front Yard (Private Property)” icon doesn’t apply to the terrace hides that were the subject of discussion. The argument being put forth was that terrace hides were on public property, free to use by anyone, and therefore not qualifying as private front yard. So I see no need to bring it up a discussion at all. 😛
On the Left Side of the Road...One of our favorites is chicken pot pie. Diced chicken, cook in a hot DO, or cook before you go to camp. Add cream soup, veggies. Top with some unrolled canned crescent roll dough. Cook till bubbly and brown. Awesome.
Other things we’ve done in the DO…your basic pot roast. Stew. Shepherds’ pie, which is one of our kids’ favorites.
Scouts have a good cookbook for this…anything you need to know: http://www.zion412.org/Library/DutchOvenCookbooks/Scout%20Dutch%20Oven%20Cookbook.pdf
Basic tinfoil cooking, can’t go wrong. “Hobo dinner”–Hamburger, potatoes, other veggies. Chicken variety–Diced chicken with minute rice, veggies, and creamed soup. Pie irons for grilled sammies, Camp McMuffins and all kinds of stuff. To be honest a DO cobbler is too big for a family of four, so we usually stick with pudgie pies.
Ah-course, if you’re looking for the wow factor with camping noobs or kids, make some omelets in Ziploc bags, or cook some eggs & bacon in a paper bag over the coals.
On the Left Side of the Road...Ben, I have a two person kayak you can use, or two one-persons. Pulaski may be a bit out of your way but Wausau is farther.
On the Left Side of the Road...I’m lookin’ forward to a caching trip…was worried about where to stay but now I think I’ll just pitch a pup tent in someone’s front yard. Cool!
When I think of all the work I did for the WGA on the education committee, working with law enforcment and assuring them about issues related to cache placement…what a waste that was I guess…
On the Left Side of the Road...Seriously hardinfam why do you even bother to ask questions if you don’t want the answers to them. If you only want to hear your own opinion go talk to your mirror.
On the Left Side of the Road...In answer to the original question, one word: cowards.
On the Left Side of the Road...Sorry, hardinfam, but you cannot try to change the subject and ignore six pages of prior posts. For everyone’s reference, here is a summary in chronological order:

For those who don’t know what this is really all about, there have been quite a number of new hides in the Appleton area (mostly Appleton, Kimberly, and Combined Locks) which are placed in residential neighborhoods between the sidewalk and the street. These are not like the roadside hides you find in more rural parts of the state, but right by someone’s house.

I just got a notification log of archive on one of the hiders caches that was archived by a Groundspeak Lackey themselves.
The archive log states “The adjacent property owners are being disturbed by this cache and ask that it be removed. The local police are now involved. Sorry, but I have to archive this cache. Thank you for your understanding.”
@Hardinfam wrote:
I happen to place all of the caches on the terrace which is public land. I happen to have one on my front terrace so that we can socialise with other cachers. Most of them were placed with the neighbours knowledge of what it is. Some even know me personally and I acknowledge them in the description or name. Yes some people don’t undrstand the impact of having one near them…
If you don’t like my hides don’t look for them.
@gotta run wrote:
Go back and read the initial post. This refers to caches in people’s front yards.
There is a place for park and grabs in this game and we’ve placed some ourselves. But that place is not in the easement in front of someone’s house.

If the cache neighbor doesn’t like it on the public land called a terrace then I will remove them, but not if another cacher is upset with me.

I’ve seen enough and heard enough support for me to stick to my guns on this.

Well, for now, I got my wife to agree to no more terrace hides.
As you can clearly see, this thread, and my concern, was ALWAYS and ONLY with caches being placed in someone’s front yard–the “terrace,” which you have no right to use for this purpose. This thread and my responses have never had anything to do with caches being placed in parks.
Over the course of this thread, several posters made well-reasoned arguments explaining why these private property hides are a bad idea because of their potential to cause problems with the general public and the negative impact on the game.
Your response to this has been, essentially, “Ppppppptttttth to you!!! I’ll do what I want!”
However, I’m glad to see that you have now reconsidered your stance on terrace hides. I encourage you to consider the entire geo-community when you place all your future hides.
On the Left Side of the Road...What, there are no parks for you to take your toddler to? The youngun’ would prefer to play in the strip of grass by the road?
Only truly selfish people would continue to do something that they know damages this game, simply because they can.

Your being what you think of me. Now stop. I did talk to the owners or neighbors of there owners of the terraces of the caches in question and they know of them. The problem is from people like you who think your way to cache is the only way to. Have respect for the game to let mt family cache the way we do. If you don’t like that then stop caching.
Just remember I can please some of the people all of the time, but I can’t please all of people all of the time.
The “way you cache” is affecting the game. You do not seem to care. That’s all I have to say.
