Yeah, you’re right Barry, I don’t know him from Adam nor have I even done any of his caches so I really shouldn’t be drawing any conclusions. Disregard!

They are called guidelines not rules.
Have you ever had a gc guideline not enforced as a rule?
On the Left Side of the Road...Goes to prove there are two sides to every story. I don’t know what it takes to get “banned” and I don’t intend to find out, but I’ve had my share of disagreements with the powers that be and have done a few log deletions in my time–only after contacting cachers and usually several days to a week’s time and no response, and never if they responded and asked me to wait for whatever reason. But I’ve never been threatened with any banishment.
It was bad enough keeping tabs on just two ECs which was part of the reason we archived ours. I’m guessing with a few hundred ECs it is simply impossible to “calendar” each log to follow up so he came up with a practice that was technically correct but not very friendly.
My own practice in logging ECs was just to post a note with whatever details I had and then to change it when I had the rest. Never had any problems with that.

Very little of what is on Groundspeak is written by them. It is the cache owners who are researching to cache locations and writing the interesting content.
This is what got me thinking of this topic. Groundspeak is completely dependent on others to create caches ($$) and cache page content (time) and then give it freely to the community.
Obviously, this model has worked very well thus far, because people like the game and it’s fun to place caches.
But…over time it seems like it’s been more and more “you can’t do this” and “you can’t do that” to COs…dunno, it’s just my impression. Again, it’s their sandbox and they have a service COs want so they have the upper hand, unless there would be some mass archival movement or just a cessation of new placements, which seems highly unlikely.
On the Left Side of the Road...I got bored about halfway through the discussion but the nut of his banning seems to be around enforcing EC requirements, and/or his attitude toward that and deletions.
I will say that owning EC’s was a very frustrating experience. People just don’t read or don’t care. I got tired of policing logging requirements, which is what I had promised to do as a prerequisite of publishing them.
Then to top it off, when I got complaints about one of my ECs in this forum, well that pretty much was the last straw. Never again!
Looks like this banned member has a similar outlook on life; namely, that there are more important things to do than to worry about electronic logs about nonexistent caches!

Some get chased away by loud mouth, no-it-all “pros” because they made a noob mistake.
That happens? 😯 🙄 😡
On the Left Side of the Road...I’ll add that one to the list…
On the Left Side of the Road...I think (???) the Flash rule has been around for some time? Or am I thinking of the executable rule.
On the Left Side of the Road...This sounds really familiar. The only geocaching activity I have time for is trolling the forums, and that’s only cuz’ I have a home office and need the distraction.
On the Left Side of the Road...World peace. 🙄
On the Left Side of the Road...Don’t feel bad, I just stopped at the store tonight to buy my wife a birthday card.
Her birthday was last week and I already got and gave her a present, and a card.
On the Left Side of the Road...Well, it’s been a fun race to watch….
Keeping in mind that the vast majority of HP2’s points have come in one year, their current spot on the all-time leader board race is 😯

“Greater than” shall include the anniversary date.
Geocaching math!!! 😛
On the Left Side of the Road...For what it’s worth (which is not a lot), I looked back and we did play this as “a year and a day” last year: GCWY3J. Doesn’t matter to me either way though.
On the Left Side of the Road...It says “more than a year” but I don’t recall if I used to wait for a day after the anniversary or not…uh…not that I ever really paid attention to that kind of stuff you see… 🙄
Anyhoo, how do we know whether a cache last logged as found on 1/1 was found at 12:01 a.m. or 11:59 p.m.? So the next 1/1 finder is either more than a year or less than a year…or something…One year should get the bonus points. So a 1/1 last found cache, gets the points the next 1/1. Makes sense. Ya???
Interpret any rules broadly, after all it’s just a game for fun.
