Perhaps a new thread can be started on any progress of any dialogue between the geocaching community and the local LEO’s not just in Green Bay, but in other communities as well.
Just FYI to anyone watching this topic, a new thread has been spun with an update:

But I gather that once the bomb squad is called the attitude becomes “blow it up, no matter what”… Am I correct???
While I don’t think anyone would go on record with that, for practical purposes that’s the way it works, and why it’s essential that situations are either avoided, or handled by the responding officers.
On the Left Side of the Road...Yeah, it’s an ALR but that’s allowed on virtual caches, just like the email with information would be, right?
On the Left Side of the Road...Upload a photo with the log.
On the Left Side of the Road...So Garmin thinks they can genercize geocaching? Seems to be biting the hand that feeds it.
Sounds like you have some inside intel. Tell us what you know! Don’t be a tease!
On the Left Side of the Road...I’ve always told caretakers that we want to place a “visitor log” in a little waterproof container, and of course away from graves. Never had a problem (except when the caretaker changes! 😳 )
On the Left Side of the Road...This whole thing is puzzling. The opencaching.com choice by Garmin was obviously deliberate.
The only way a site is going to really compete against geoaching.com is to roll out an amazing kick-butt site that groundspeak can’t or won’t match (the letterboxing.org and atlasquest.com scenario), and/or be very well funded to get the advertising and pr to get a critical mass of users and caches.
But that would mean that Garmin would be competing against groundspeak, which would seem to be counterproductive for them.
So does that mean they’re trying to “squat” on the opencaching.com domain to mess up things for the national opencaching sites?
But….the opencaching.com domain has been owned for quite a while.
So….I’m confused.
On the Left Side of the Road...Ok, this is a serious question:
Has anyone EVER heard of a non-hunter getting shot by a hunter during gun deer season?
On the Left Side of the Road...It’s not so much thick skin as is the fact that my eye no longer hurts from having a thumb stuck in it.

and a rather lonely cache I’ve got my eye on…
That reminds me…
Does that mean we actually have to place the cache sometime? 😛
On the Left Side of the Road...We don’t pull, and we no longer disable caches in hunting areas.
My theory is that people need to be responsible enough to make their own decisions.

At that point you simply have to step back and appreciate the game for what it is, a very fluid ever-changing, never-know-what-to-expect experience, rewarding you primarily for what YOU got out of it.
Wow, you have mellowed in your old age, old man!
On the Left Side of the Road...Ah geez am I getting old. I had WGA2 (no longer a reviewer, right?) and WGA3 mixed up…
whatever…never mind… 😳
On the Left Side of the Road...Well, I have found a home for this series, so thank you to Lander & Lancelot, Lone Gunman, and frmr.
It will take a while to get these adoptions done!
I simply don’t have enough time to give this series the attention it deserves from a maintenance standpoint. I did when we placed it or I wouldn’t have placed it, but greater and greater involvement in Scouting over the past few years has taken pretty much all our spare time that had gone into caching, but that’s by no means a regret. Adding Cubmaster to my duties this year was pretty much the deciding factor.
This is an extremely difficult and bittersweet decision for team gotta run, and me in particular. I can’t tell you how much time went into researching this series. Great memories, but I know the series is in good hands.
A parent only has a very small window of time in which to have an impact on his son (or daughter), and that time is now…
On the Left Side of the Road...Hmmmmm. I have seen some activity from WGA3 lately, but have not recalled seeing anything prior to now. A search of the forums revealed this introductory thread….
Anybody know whazzup?
