And yet nobody thought of this one…

On the Left Side of the Road...We have the 400t and the 550. We have had zero problems with the 400t and the only problem with the 550 has been an occasional lock-up while using the camera. Both are running whatever software the online updater put on them and they have been upgraded once or twice since buying them.
Not sure if there’s a reason why the 450 would be having problems versus the 400 and 550.
On the Left Side of the Road...Very nice. 8)
On the Left Side of the Road...My answer isn’t quite there…we activate all of them but have some we do not release.

Easy cache for our team to find. Nice day to go caching. Enjoyed your cache, thanks for putting it out. TNLN, SL, TFTC.

And I think “Star Wars Trivia” should be worth a bonus 100 points.
On the Left Side of the Road...I agree with Yinnies. The workflow problem with the way Oregons handle multis (as I see it) is that you have to enter a new waypoint, then navigate to it. Which means, when you find the final at your new waypoint, you are no longer navigating to the geocache itself, so you are not able to note that it is a found or enter any field notes.
Instead, you have to cancel navigation to the new waypoint you created, then go back and re-navigate to the geocache, then log your find.
It’s a clunky procedure IMO.

I haven’t ran across a cache yet on an actual island.
Howdy L0stB0y,
It looks like the nearest island cache to you is about 20 miles away in Minnesota (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=4e19c253-975b-45e9-bf92-2153689bb2a7), but actually there are a number of island caches in Wisconsin. Here is a bookmark list that I update as I become aware of new ones, so be sure to let me know if you get your cache approved and placed:

Regarding the DNR forms, I personally don’t wait for them to come back because they are “notification” forms to the DNR, but there is no harm in waiting a bit if you wish. I get them back most of the time when I’m dealing with my regular DNR contact, but in other regions it’s hit or miss.
Lastly, I would definitely second Sandlanders’ comments about considering the amount of use the island gets. This summer alone, we have hunted for several caches and letterboxes that have been AWOL and I believe it’s in part because the islands are more heavily visited than the cache owners believed. So if the island you have in mind is used a lot for “BBQs and beaching,” anything you hide under a pile of sticks is going to be gone the first time some partiers look for firewood.
On the Left Side of the Road...Nice work. 😀
On the Left Side of the Road...Wet and moldy ones that the owners don’t maintain.
Ditto to playgrounds…”Hey kids, don’t pay any attention to the old guy crawling under the slide.”

I doubt this has changed. I tried to work with them on EarthCaches a year or so ago and got absolutely nowhere either. Doesn’t hurt to try again though.
On the Left Side of the Road...Download your “my finds” query from the pocket query page
http://www.geocaching.com/pocket/
Upload the file to the link lone gunman posted after creating an account there then play around with the “my profile” link.
I’m sure there’s a way/a macro for GSAK to do this as well but I do not know it.
On the Left Side of the Road...Could somebody explain what the travel bug “preference” status field is?
It looks like there are two options for this: the bug is collectible, or the bug is not collectible, which are set from the edit details page.
So what’s the thinking here? That some owners release a bug to travel but don’t mind if someone makes it part of their collection, so now they can note that on the bug page? Wouldn’t you assume instead that every bug that has a tracking record and an owner is meant to be NOT collectible? I’m not talking about unactivated bugs for prizes and whatnot, this is a field on the tracking page for activated bugs that are already owned.
😕

Generally, I will leave a note in the log when I find one missing and leave a note in the trackable as well.
Leaving a note in both is the best way to go. The cache owner can then log the bug as missing if it is likely gone (i.e., dropped in a long time ago with many subsequent cache finders). Also, as a bug owner, it’s helpful to be alerted of this information, which saves the trouble of having to search through logs when doing a periodic bug check-up.
Welcome to the forum and thanks for being concerned about these types of things.
