We use this icon primarily as a “not” icon. i.e., we only use it on caches that are not available with the red line thru it. Otherwise most everything else can be found with enough perseverance.

This is an interesting thread given the density of WSQ caches in your average Fox Valley Cemetery! That is not a critcism, just an observation.

What would be the issue (problem?) that you are asking about? On the part of cachers, the part of municipalities, other?

I agree this was a pretty fast disablement, particularly considering other caches that have confirmed issues that linger for some time with NM logs on them. Gibonnaci may not be the fastest at acting but he’s not an AWOL owner. Maybe there were other circumstances that brought it to someone’s attention.

Well, we have a cache where batteries are integral to its operation; however we do check on that cache every couple of months for any possible problems. We’ve also run across other creative battery powered caches.

Thanks for the input so far. We have decided to stick with plan A, which is put the caches out and leave them out year round. However, we are making the hunting warnings prominent in the text to warn cachers particularly in areas where they might not expect to encounter hunters.

Ya, but my thinking is that with deer hunters, you can see those blaze orange guys and gals a mile away.

Duck hunters are pretty well camoed and unless you drift into a pile of decoys you might drift into them unawares and cause some annoyment. We have had cachers upset with us for having caches placed in duck hunting “territory.” Maybe it doesn’t matter; we all have a right to use of the land.

Great idea for a thread, TheBalks. Thanks. And the pictures are great! Get ’em started early!

Here are a few…yep these are spoiler pix but you gotta figure out what cache they belong to so they should be ok…

    An ammo can?

    Now THAT’s more like it!

A literal needle in a haystack.

Neither or first nor our last kid portage.

An all-too-common scene when team gotta run hits the…trail??? Ahhhh…I’m pretty sure there’s no nettle in there kids, just keep your hands high.

    GC920B?

That one actually looks like it’s still there, the owner just never reenabled it so it got archived. I would love to get that one as well…it just sits there staring at me on the rescue list time after time. It’s just too far away to justify the trip.

In the context of the LCG, maybe we should make cache rescues that have been on the list for more than a year worth double points just like regular lonelies.

Well, I definitely think the Glock is easier to holster and more practical for hiking in the woods, but to each his own. 8)

Just your basic Leatherman, along with a “mini” leatherman knockoff b/c it has a reall small pliers for the nano logs.

Other than that, just the Glock .40 cal. Open carry is awesome.

Sounds like a good event. Let me know when it’s published.

Not my fault ya didn’t have your shots up to date. I’ll take hopping out of the boat and landing on the cache any day to drilling into the ice at 10 below…or was it 20 below…the story gets bigger all the time.

I’m waiting on an owner confirmation on this one first 🙂

Yeah, I know, I’m waiting for gotta_run and CSI to come down with the ATV and ice auger again. They got off easy on their 5/5 run a while back and owe me one, right Mike?

Oh ya, that was real friggin easy. How’s that coffee? 😆

    .

We buy them as “jewelry bags” at Hobby Lobby. Two different mini-sizes.
